Anyone seen the Coors commerical where two Schlomos are ogling a broad on the beach and you hear her say (about the bottles) "They're plastic and they're spectacular"? She even sounds like Sidra. Jackie heard the commercial the first time and had to look later to find it was some nondescript blonde bimbo. Outrageous! Wonder how many catch the reference.

Huh? Is this controversial in some way, or is Jackie missing something?

That's the point, Jackie. It's really quite innocent. But you're talking about Coors, and if someone chose to, they could look deep into the company's history, and blast you for even mentioning it.

But, as a postscript... maybe the commercial is just... paying homage?

Beer in a plastic bottle. Not cool.

My only point, in seriousness, was wondering how many would detect the Seinfeld reference..........................nothing deep.

Sounds like a funny commercial. Jimmy loves funny stuff. Harmless, funny stuff. Look forward to seeing it. Smile

yes, I know of the checkered Coors history and the intrigue of kidnapping and murder. But then, who cares about that HERE? Crying or Very Sad

Funny, I noticed it the same you might have, Jackie. I wasn't paying attention, heard the reference, looked up and noticed it was a commercial.

What's this checkered history everyone's talking about? You're not talking about the fact that J Peterman is the Coor's commercial "voice", are you?

Better "google" the alleged checkered part CJ! Wink Think Uncle Leo and Secretariat.

The kidnapping and murder refers to what was done to young Coors in the 60's. In the 60's, man!

for the record, beer in plastic bottles is nothing new....

i went down to the states for a seatle mariners game three years ago, and the only way you could get beer was bud in a brown plastic bottle.

and let me tell you this, i went into a full blown "bottle deposite" inspired, newman-esque chugg fest just to avoid the unsavoury low-alcohol-content, watm beer that was sure to come if i waiting more than a couple minutes to drink it.

let's play two!

It's been around more than three years.. Jimmy remembers it at outdoor concerts as long as six or seven years ago.

Jackie remembers them from the early 70's. At least he thinks he remembers seeing a couple of beer bottles melt in the sun and run down the beach to the sea............................

I heard the line "They're real and they're spectacular" in an episode of Rescue Me, which I thought was a little cheeky.

We've even had plastic beer bottles in Australia for many years (mainly for concerts/sporting events). So they must have been in America for at least 20 years cause we are usually that far behind. Embarassed

(Having ignored the sage advice of Bookman while looking up Mrs. Robinson's dress, Chiles went on to invest in quadraphonic stereo stock, Eastern Airlines, and a nehru jacket factory.)
