Is the New York apartment building that Jerry lives in on the show real?

I read somewhere that it is actually in Los Angeles (not New York). But I guess it is real.

Yes, that's true. The building that they show from the outside is in LA somewhere. The address of the show is real, 129 West 81st Street. On a recent trip to New York, I took a photo of that address. I will post in to the site once I find some time to scan it...

Does anyone know the exact street address of the building in Los Angeles used as the exterior of Jerry's apartment?

Not only is 129 West 81st Street real but was there that Jerry lived when he was a starting comedian.

I recently graduated college and thought with my new job in advertising that I could easily get a great place. Unfortunately I had not established credit so my best bet was to find a roomate. I wanted to find a nice big apartment in Los angeles and I had to find a roomate. Everbody at Cal State LA used to share each others' Westside Rentals passwords. But because I wasn't on campus as frequently I could not get a Westside Rentals password. I visited the Westside Rentals Santa Monica and Melrose offices. I couldn't believe how big a company it was. At the Santa Monica office I filmed a short video clip of myself. The video clip was then available on the westside rentals home page. I then visited the westside rentals networking event two consecutive sundays and met with several roomate candidates. I eventually found my los angeles roommate and have been enjoying the large spacious two bedroom apartment ever since. I just got a call from my friend in Seattle who is moving to LA. She wanted to be my roommate. I told her to check out Westside Rentals. I needed an LA roommate. I found an LA roomate. Sami Song

The address for the apartment shown on Seignfeld as Jerry's apartment is 757 New Hampshire Ave in Los Angeles.

According to the commentary on the DVD 'if you look closely you can see that the building has been modified to withstand earthquakes'

Shame on everyone! Jerry said on the NBC special the other night that it was an apartment in LA that they used. I don't remember the exact address, but he did mention it.

Me too...and after saying "Shame on everyone", he repeated everything that was already said in this thread, but but with less info. Jamie gave the exact address a few posts ago.

There have been a lot of really strange posts lately. They make absolutely NO sense. Shame on everyone? What the hell did "everyone" DO?

1) READ the entire thread first (or at least, the last 10-15 posts).
2) Type your reply.
3) READ what you've written as if you are somebody else reading it.
4) Ask yourself... will this make ANY sense to others?
5) If so, click "POST." If not, rewrite it, or go find something else to do!

If i can allow myself to try and speak for Tor, I think by "Shame on everyone", he meant something like "Didn't any of you see the special where they mentioned the address?"
The reason his "Shame on everyone" doesn't really apply is because the address of the apartment building was given by Jamie only one post removed from his. So it might be "Shame on Tor" for not reading the other posts before forcing us to live in shame. But, I don't care, I've lived in shame my whole life, why should I die with dignity?

Ahhh! That kinda makes sense... But, see? THAT'S exactly what Jimmy meant. Read it over first and see if it would make sense to others without them having to spend the day trying to figure it out.

I think there's confusion about the address used on the show and the building, the adress is real and the real Jerry lived there, the building is not real, in the sense that it's in LA and not in NY.

There's no confusion about the address, or the building......only confusion about why "everyone" was being scolded with no explanation.
