in a couple years blu-ray dvds will be replace dvd's because they can hold a lot more memory, i wonder if they will re-release current dvds to compact them on less discs. we could potentially be buying seinfeld the complete series on like 5 discs, any thoughts?
(i'm not too knowledgable on the new technology)

blu-ray is the next generation dvd encoding using blue rays (instead of red rays) smaller wavelength, more data. The ps3 will be using blu-ray. players and pc drives should be coming out in the next few years. just do a google search there are a lot of informational websites. if they do re-release dvd's i hope they have trade ins or something. it will also pretty much completely eliminate the use of video casette tapes.

No, nothing will eliminate video cassetes. Vinyl Records are still around, come on..

How long have DVD's been around? not that long, and there already replacing them? thats a shame.

Will these new blu ray DVD players be able to read the old DVD's too?

Im not a big fan of the blu ray idea yet, but im sure itll catch on.

blu-ray players will play regular dvd's, and video's are almost dead as it is. and vinyl records? come on get with the 21st century.
Blu-ray is very new, and will be introduced in the next few years, so it will be a while before dvd's go out.

Videos are nowhere near dead. Let me ask you, do you have a DVD recorder?

I live in Australia, and you see more adds on TV advertising VCR's then DVD recorders. I have one purpose for my VCR, and thats recording TV programs.

People thought that Compact discs would eliminate Audio Cassetes, but even now with the new generation of Audio (MP3 players) I still se Audio Casset tapes.

It will be a while before Videos are gone.

Because you're not typing in an email address. Don't worry, nobody will spam you.

As you acquire more post, you'll get new titles (which are all words and phrases from the show), such as Low-Talker, Hipster Dufus, Son-of-a-Bitch, etc.,

I'm not sure how many posts it takes to change from one title to another. But if you ever type in a different email, or change the case of the letters in your email, your post count will get all screwed up, so keep it the same (spelling your name different doesn't matter). If you ever change your email address, just keep using the old one here... it has no other purpose than for the counter, anyway.

Another important fact about the Blu-Ray is that it is a high-definition format. I'm only assuming that they will still play Standard DVDs - it would be smart for them to do so.

So, yes, maybe the whole series would fit on just 5 discs - but they would be Standard definition - not HD. Seinfeld (another Mr. MV give-away - although I've mentioned it on here before) will eventually come out on Blu-Ray discs in high defintion.

Also, there is a second format getting ready to come out from the Blu-Ray competitors called HD-DVD. The Blu-Ray is the superior format due to the amount of data that can be burned on a disc - 5 times more than the HD-DVD.

However, Americans won't care about that when choosing. The format which releases the most porn first will be the winner.

... and if he tells us about HD-DVDs again, he is going home in a body bag!
