The video downloads can get really slow, with many people downloading at the same time. It can also be difficult to connect. You may wnat to try Kazaa - I share all of the episodes there as well...

Here's an idea Stan....how much would a server upgrade cost? It seems like with the amount of people that benefit from this site, that we could all pitch in a little so we could all download the videos. Probably a crazy idea but using paypal you could do it.

Rollo Hollins, you must be think about another site. I don't use .torrent files. I have been thinking about trying to use BitTorrent to provide faster downloads. Not sure if it is the best way...

BobCobb, the server is not the issue, it is the connection. The videos are hosted on a DSL connection which has about 120K upstream available for downloads. My ISP has a package with 640K upstream, but there is a monthly limit of 35GB (we'd blow through that within about 10 days, I think). It costs $150 CAD (over $110 USD) per month. Another package has 75GB per month, but it is $350 CAD per month.

Also, I think there is a problem with Apache on WinXP. When I was on Win Server 2003 briefly, people were able to connect better. But it was only an eval version that expired after 30 days, and I had to switch back to XP. If anyone has any suggestions about this, let me know...

Hey STAN
why dont you try and roll back the date so that eval doesn't run out
Also you could try and use IRC where you will get free FTP domains to upload all videos
Pls. if possible ell me your Kazaa nick so that I can download
Host all these videos n IRC....

Dev

Dev, my Kazaa nick is StanTheCaddy@Kazaa, but there are many other people sharing the videos as well. For best results, search for "seinfeld ". If you manage to upload them to another FTP or HTTP location, send me the URLs, and I can link to them. Good Luck! Smile

I really recommend you guys take a trip to suprnova.org and grab my Hi-Q rips.

I've spent the last few months religously ripping decent quality vids. I've only got 3 series left to go (expect to have the lot by around February). These are all hi res (544x416 DivX 5.1 with 128K MP3 audio), perfectly edited (not even any voice overs). My only problem is with a bit of occasional mpeg break up.

The trackers are having a few problems at the moment so the downloads might be a little iffy but it'll be worth it (and I'm working on a solution to that).

At 170Mb an episode, they'll take a while to get the lot - but it'll be worth it. Possibly the best option until DVDs are available!

Stan - someone's offered to host them for me, so if that happens I'll be sure to give you the URL.

Justanotherfan!, I'd be very interested in that Smile (Ps. I tried supernova.org, but the pages took forever to load, so I gave up...email me at videos@stanthecaddy.com, maybe I can host or link to your .torrent files or something...)

In the meantime, I have just launched an experiment to provide faster downloads. The method using a small application called K-Sig, which works with Kazaa. Basically, you click on a link on the videos page, and K-Sig send the request to Kazaa. Since Kazaa can download from multiple users at the same time, it acts like a load balancer.

For this to work best, I need as many people as possible to try out this method and share the videos on Kazaa. If everyone does this, it will ensure fast download speeds.

Please try it out. Follow the intructions at the top of the videos page. Please post feedback in the forum. I also would like feedback on the instructions wrote. I want to make this as easy as possible for everyone, including non-techie people.

Thanks,

Stan
