I'd answer him, except (and I can't rely on closed-captioners or the folks who write transcripts) I can't decide on the spelling: Armstrong? or Jerry?

Although in your two examples, they are pronounced differently.

Maybe a better comparison would be Jerry and Joe?

Poor Lonnie...

I think I've only seen Jerry's spelling as a last name. And don't middle come from first names (usually)? I'm betting on Armstrong.

As far as your pronunciation point.... that's like saying Stevie is pronounced differently than Stephen. Rolling Eyes

Armstrong is the line.

cj, fyi: Louis Armstrong pronounced his first name the same way Jerry Lewis pronounced his last name.

Maybe I was thinking of Louie Anderson. Big faux pas.

There are no big and little faux pas, only faux pas.

I think it was Louie Lewis, not Jerry Satchmo, that was popular in France. It's a common misconception.
