Curb vs. Seinfeld

On the hour-long mockumentary, "Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm", there is a scene where Larry is in a club and tells a joke about people screening calls so they won't have to join a posse.

In Jerry Seinfeld's 1993 "Seinlanguage" on page 91 is the same joke, albeit not as developed as Larry's version.

My question is who's joke is it and who stole it from whom? It is known that Larry used to knock Jerry's style of stand-up; "bottom of the barrel" as Kenny Kramer states on his site. This suggests that Jerry might have stolen this joke from Larry. Any thoughts on this?
