I agree. I had high hopes for it since he WAS a producer of Seinfeld, but this show really isn't that funny. It gets a chuckle here and there, but most of the time, the show is completely boring or pointless or both.

Anyone who thinks CYE *isn't* hilarious must absolutely LOVE crap like Friends, Will and Grace and Ray Romano, etc. Finally, something original comes along like CYE! What is wrong with you people anyway? GEEZ!....LOL |

What's fucking crap is morons coming on to a site dedicated to a show they supposedly hate and then wasting THEIR time to tell the rest of us their stupid, unwanted opinion.
Go watch Survivor or whatever ridiculous crap you watch on tv and let the rest of us enjoy truly original programming. |

I agree with Chris (very ironic bit about Survivor by the way *applause*). I can see why this show might not appeal to a vast audience, but still, the man is hilarious. I don't think I've ever watched another television show that was so very 'uncomfortable'. There is merit in that. |

larry david is the funniest human on the face of the earth. seinfeld and cye are members of the top 5 greatest shows of all time and anyone who doesnt think so is a fucking idiot.
so if you dotn want to watcy CYE, why dont you just turn it over to CBS and watch them recycle the domestic home comedy formula constantly, or better yet watch some "Becker" type shit |

What lovers of curb need to understand is that we are in the minority. you can't go up against baywatch, WWF, Cops (sometimes this is kind of funny though), Everybody loves Tyrone, etc etc.
it's too big a monster to slay. be happy that you are part of the few smart enough to understand LDs kind of humor. as for the people who go out of their way to post how much they hate the show on this site...i wonder if there is something else going on here? |

I know, I love people who bash Larry David but have these pro-Seinfeld names, seeing as how Larry David was mostly the creative force on Seinfeld. He wrote more and was more in charge of the show than Jerry (not to take anything away, I love Jerry.) By the way, don't their standups remind you of each other's a lot? It's very similar. |

And I totally agree with you, Crazy Eyez...I really think Larry David was the creative genius behind " Seinfeld " and *not* the other way around....and I loved " Seinfeld " but CYE is in a different league...and, in my opinion, probably too quirky, brilliant, original and beyond the scope of intelligence of the audience out there in " Middle America " which is why it's on HBO...roflmfao |

if you like Sein , and you wrote that , you're totally lost!
what did you yoy expect? Seinfeld part2 ??
Curb is awsome for me , a certified Seinoholic. You gotta see the evloutionary
aspect of Larry's writtings....he's now free
from punch-line that Jerry brought to the old show ...not that I say it wasn't good , but this one is darker , more mature and more plot-essence oriented. It's a real Costanza delight , and I mean the real , in it's literary concept meaning! |

I saw my first episode last night. I wouldn't say the show is hilarious, but rather enormously amusing, due to its uniqueness. I think most people here are right, that tool above is just some brat that watches too much friends and expects some crappy slapstick joke to pop up at every turn.
As for meaning, what are you looking for? An allegorical epic about the meaning of life?? Well, I suppose the point of the show is to show life through the eyes of a nuerotic, impatient jerk, which the show does quite effectively. I love it. |

Personally, i can't believe you people are keeping this thread alive. I don't think someone's an idiot for not liking a show. Art is very subjective, whether it's music, movies, TV, etc...If you like something, it's good, and if you don't like something, or don't "get" it, it's shit...It's as simple as that. What makes the dickless wonder who started this thread a complete idiot is the fact that he took the time to look for, find, and post in a site that's totally based on something he hates...Now that's idiotic. Now, will you excuse me, I have to Google "Nightrider" and tell those fools what i think of them. |

The antics are rediculos. Larry expresses what we all would like to, no matter how uncomfortable. Sometimes the situations he gets himself in makes me squirm. Let me stop analyzing. Because if I try to explain the humor, I will do nothing but ruin it for those who do get it. Larry I wanna be like you when I grow up. A naurotic rich man getting on everyones nerves. |

True fans of CYE and SEINFELD laugh at what todd said
"never watch it, not a fan" because they know this is from the pilot of curb your enthusiasm (and strangely the movie Stand Up) i have no clue how they both got mixed in but maybe that pilot scene is something that really happened, and they through it in there. Anyway. good one todd |

The episode with the tennis instructor rubbing Cheryls breasts at the end was so hilarious I almost died of laughter.

I hated curb at first, because it *seemed* like nothing ever happened! but u read between the lines--and it's usually the scenarios david creates that crack me up, even if the dialogue isnt dominated by oneliners at the end of each scene. on seinfeld, larry personally approved the story outline before allowing a staff writer (e.g. larry charles) to begin--the story has to carry its own weight. unscripted can sometimes be loud and confusing, because actors are constantly yelling to get in the last line in improv. but when one actor nails a line and u witness genuine, first reaction laughter--that seals it for me. that's a beautiful moment captured on camera. that and suzie's ranting rampagin obscenities. anyone know when fifth season starts? or if it will start? what i dont get.....is why everyone complains about lack of time to do the show what with editing, but there are only *ten* episodes per season? |

BTW, bobobud: Cheryl gave her permission--for Larry to have sex with another woman for a 10th anniversary gift--when they were first married. The subject of this gift arose at the beginning of the 4th season, was a running subplot all season long, and figured into several episodes, including the season finale, "Opening Night." |

its ok if you don't like Curb, the people who do are obviously highly intelligent people that enjoy the subtleties of smart humor, wit and sarcasm as oppose to mindless blabbering, stupid characters and ill conceived plots. If you don't like it, fine, go watch Just Shoot Me and shoot yourself. |

The thing I loved most about rewatching all the DVDs was realizing just how much Jason Alexander channeled Larry during Seinfeld.
Also - That's gotta be David's voice for Mr. Steinbrenner.
Biggest laugh-out-loud moment
Playing tennis with Cheryl who grunts - sounds like pigs fucking! |

In regards to the first idiot who started this ridiculous flame war, grow up? It's one thing to disagree and you have a right to dislike something, but for chrissakes, act like an adult when posting your thoughts about something instead of starting shit. Everyone has their own opinions and that's fine and dandy. This particular show only appeals to certain people due to the style of humor it is. I know a lot of people who enjoy it and a lot of people who are either in the middle about it or just don't like it at all. I'm a fan of the show and I respect their opinions because I understand it's not a show that everyone is going to like. And also just because someone doesn't like it doesn't mean they suck or they don't understand it, etc. Like I said, it's a very weird type of humor that only a certain group of people are going to enjoy. If you don't like it, fine. If you like it, fine. Enough with the "you suck because you like it/dislike it" crap. It's old. Accept that people have their own opinions that you might not agree on and leave it at that. And find something more important to get upset over. Not a television show. |

This is intended for mature audiences only, maybe you would be more comtorble with some telletubbies or "my wife and kids." lol, ahahahaahahahahahah, take that you fags! SHazaaam! |

Obviously, the ones that are putting down CYE on this board don't have the intelligence to appreciate this brilliant show. It is intelligent comedy (meaning those that thought Married With Children was briliant or The Fresh Prince should stay away)that takes more than an IQ of 80 to understand. Not to mention it is about one of the most laugh out loud, bust a gut comedies of all time. To the haters....go back to watching fucking Friends or any other dumb show that you need the laugh track to tell you when to laugh........fucking morons. CYE RULES!!!!! |

It would be stepping out of line, simply because Curb and Seinfeld are good, while the other 2 are embarassing excuses for comedy shows. Nothing wrong with Friends bashing, it shows character. |

Here in the UK, CYE was treated really badly by the BBC. THe first three seasons all had a really shitty slot (so to speak). Like 11:15pm on a Tuesday or something. It's a shame because a lot of people just can't be bothered to investigate original comedy shows unless it has a standard time slot. Whatever. I find CYE to be possibly the greatest comedy show I've ever seen. I've devoured the 1st and 2nd seasons. Number 3 is coming along soon. I'm guessing that you're mostly American, although I'm not sure why. Other top shows that I believe to be coming your way are 'Green Wing', 'Spaced' and 'Black Books'. Also, a show called 'Nathan Barley' ran here in Feb' and that was a cracker too. Different beasts to CYE but still very good. Not quite as good, mind.
I can watch the scene where Richard Lewis and Larry David are discussing the acceptibility of saying "blind man" in front of the blind guy again and again. Also, the scene in the elevator where Larry is pretending he's reaching for the hold button. Simply amazing. |

Curb is the greatest tv programming of all time and I think it has something to do with the lack of a laugh track. Friends and Will and Grace run the laugh track at every corner, and usually at times when it is not even remotely funny. Seinfeld does it sometimes also, but it is usually employed appropriately. Does anyone like the american remake of The Office. I've always loved Steve Carell and think he is doing a fantastic job. It is not as funny as curb, but it is very good. I've never seen the british version, is it good? |

Larry David is indeed a comic genius. His sense of timing and the absurd are unassailable. He has recently become my favorite irascible, petulant, peevish misanthrope. Those of you who dislike the program may need to reach for a dictionary to interpret the preceding (if you own one). |

Forgive me if this anally retentive bit has already been asked but.......
Wasn't the aggressive massage guy from Season 2 the original Krammer? and also, which episode of Seinfeld is it where Larry David plays some kind of astronaut on a TV show that Jerry is watching? He's screaming something that Jerry finds really amusing. |

I believe it's from The Heart Attack! Larry David always cracks me up when he makes an appearance on Seinfeld.

I'm trying to figure out what "Early Man" means by "the original Krammer"(sic). There has only ever been one Kramer. |

Flaming globes! That's f*****g great. Thanks for the knowledge. Original Kramer? Larry Davids old flatmate when he was first starting out on Seinfeld was Kenny Kramer (I think) and Larry based the character Kramer on this guy. He actually made a stack of demands to the network, including cash, in order for his name to be used. He now runs the Kramer Reality Tour in New York. Unless that was all a big David joke. |

Sorry, Earlyman. You're absolutely right. I know all about Kenny Kramer. I thought you meant that another actor played "Kramer" originally. My mistake. |

Hey Gendison
There are no mistakes here. Except the name of this thread.
I'm trying to ration out series 2 because I don't know when I'll be able to afford Series 3. Watched 'Shaq' last night. Nearly p****d myself laughing.
The scene in the coffee shop is just astonishing. "Milk *and* coffee? Who would concieve such a drink?" |

I was Larry's roommate in the dorm, Freshman year. I think all of his fans will appreciate this story. Where do i begin!? Larry was small and lanky, and i think it affected his self confidence, but well liked because of his sense of humor. Funny story: One night, he came home a little drunk. He was upset because a girl he liked was not succumbing to his advances. She liked another guy on our floor. I was sitting on his bed to talk. Out of nowhere, I became erect , just naturally. I was wearing pants and hoped he wouldn't notice. He did. I thought he was going to freak, but he didn't. Just the opposite. He grabbed it and told me i was big. Bigger than him, i knew because i had watched him change. He unzipped me. My meat swung free, and he began to slowly stroke up and down. Soon i was inside him. I explored every oriface on his little lanky body. He loved it. |

Having trouble choosing a name, or still haven't figured out how to use a keyboard. It couldn't be my Dad...he was always at your place doing your ugly mother from behind while her head was in the toilet. |

You're right, he was with my mother because he wouldn't be with your mother. Your mother's twat stank too much like ass after she squeezed you out. |

I really like CYE in the same way that I like the short stories of Ray Carver; the comic books of Harvey Pekar; the Big Lebowski; the Smiths and a range of other stuff.
Mr David is a very talented and funny bloke - long may his work continue!
P.S. there are some really classy messages here; hush up - potty mouths! |

I have a simple suggestion for people that think CYE is crap; don't watch it.
Those of us who do like CYE could care less what you think. |
