I know, I love people who bash Larry David but have these pro-Seinfeld names, seeing as how Larry David was mostly the creative force on Seinfeld. I saw my first episode last night. I wouldn't say the show is hilarious, but rather enormously amusing, due to its uniqueness. I think most people here are right, that tool above is just some brat that watches too much friends and expects some crappy slapstick joke to pop up at every turn.

As for meaning, what are you looking for? An allegorical epic about the meaning of life?? Well, I suppose the point of the show is to show life through the eyes of a nuerotic, impatient jerk, which the show does quite effectively. I love it.

LD is a genius and CYE is definitely up there as maybe one of the best comedies ever!

I hated curb at first, because it *seemed* like nothing ever happened! but u read between the lines--and it's usually the scenarios david creates that crack me up, even if the dialogue isnt dominated by oneliners at the end of each scene. on seinfeld, larry personally approved the story outline before allowing a staff writer (e.g. larry charles) to begin--the story has to carry its own weight. unscripted can sometimes be loud and confusing, because actors are constantly yelling to get in the last line in improv. but when one actor nails a line and u witness genuine, first reaction laughter--that seals it for me. that's a beautiful moment captured on camera. that and suzie's ranting rampagin obscenities. anyone know when fifth season starts? or if it will start? what i dont get.....is why everyone complains about lack of time to do the show what with editing, but there are only *ten* episodes per season?

The subject of this gift arose at the beginning of the 4th season, was a running subplot all season long, and figured into several episodes, including the season finale, "Opening Night."

I know a lot of people who enjoy it and a lot of people who are either in the middle about it or just don't like it at all. I'm a fan of the show and I respect their opinions because I understand it's not a show that everyone is going to like. And also just because someone doesn't like it doesn't mean they suck or they don't understand it, etc. Like I said, it's a very weird type of humor that only a certain group of people are going to enjoy. It would be stepping out of line, simply because Curb and Seinfeld are good, while the other 2 are embarassing excuses for comedy shows. Nothing wrong with Friends bashing, it shows character.

Here in the UK, CYE was treated really badly by the BBC. THe first three seasons all had a really shitty slot (so to speak). Like 11:15pm on a Tuesday or something. It's a shame because a lot of people just can't be bothered to investigate original comedy shows unless it has a standard time slot. Whatever. I find CYE to be possibly the greatest comedy show I've ever seen. I've devoured the 1st and 2nd seasons. Number 3 is coming along soon. I'm guessing that you're mostly American, although I'm not sure why. Other top shows that I believe to be coming your way are 'Green Wing', 'Spaced' and 'Black Books'. Also, a show called 'Nathan Barley' ran here in Feb' and that was a cracker too. Different beasts to CYE but still very good. Not quite as good, mind.
I can watch the scene where Richard Lewis and Larry David are discussing the acceptibility of saying "blind man" in front of the blind guy again and again. Also, the scene in the elevator where Larry is pretending he's reaching for the hold button. Simply amazing.

Curb is the greatest tv programming of all time and I think it has something to do with the lack of a laugh track. Friends and Will and Grace run the laugh track at every corner, and usually at times when it is not even remotely funny. Seinfeld does it sometimes also, but it is usually employed appropriately. Does anyone like the american remake of The Office. I've always loved Steve Carell and think he is doing a fantastic job. It is not as funny as curb, but it is very good. I've never seen the british version, is it good?

He was upset because a girl he liked was not succumbing to his advances. She liked another guy on our floor. I was sitting on his bed to talk. Out of nowhere, I became erect , just naturally. I was wearing pants and hoped he wouldn't notice. He did. I thought he was going to freak, but he didn't. Just the opposite. He grabbed it and told me i was big. Bigger than him, i knew because i had watched him change. He unzipped me. My meat swung free, and he began to slowly stroke up and down. Soon i was inside him. I explored every oriface on his little lanky body. He loved it.

I haven't seen Curb Your Enthusiasm yet but I'm sure it's not so horrible that you have to comment on it to everybody. No one cares. We like what we like and you like what you like. Also, you other people, don't put down Friends or Will & Grace, or people that watch such a show. I watch both those shows and they are funny, though definitely not as funny as Seinfeld (the funniest show ever!). By the way, I loved Friends, don't like Will and Grace, loved Everybody Loves Raymond, and have never watched a reality show. However, I'm still a BIG, BIG, BIG fan of CYE. It's all subjective. One thing I learned about Curbed is that you have to watch a few episodes to be able to appreciate the show. The humor is dry, but once you get to know the characters, it's hilarious! The character development is the best I have ever seen (comparable to the characters of Seinfeld - imagine that!)

Larry David's CYE is certainly the best thing to hit the UK airwaves for such a long time. I had a hunch that CYE would find an appreciative audience in the UK. I just started watching the 1st Season DVD, and I am amazed at how it's hooked my wife and I.

Here is the real truth. There is a new kind of humor that essentially involves the slow build of embarrassment to a very uncomfortable level, using contrived, but very believabe situations. I love this kind of humor, but most of America just doesn't get it. Curb falls in this category.

These people are often those who won't watch Black and White movies, and won't watch anything with subtitles. I refer to them as Mouth Breathers. This guy is obviously a mouth breather. There is a lot of crap on TV I don't get, but if it entertains you then great for you.

Secretly we all snicker at you mouth breathers out there.....So go ahead fella....you tell us why curb is so bad....nobody likes it....oh yeah, its been on for half a decade......tell us how it has bad writing......oh yeah, it has a gaggle of writing emmys. In my most humble opinion, Lar's brand of humor is the next generation in the "Woody Allen" genre of comedy writing...a successful, Jewish N.Y.'er, scampering around L.A., getting himself into contests of will with people who would otherwise have themselves, as well as everyone else around them, thinking that they were leading the "laid back", cool west coast life...So, simply put, if you like Woody, you'll love Larry...I do, and I do! If you're not familiar with Woody Allen, and/or don't like him (hmmm, sounds like a episod of CYE...), and have yet discovered any "curbage" on your own, just pick up the first season, sit down and watch...if your IQ is anywhere above double digets, you'll pick up the next four seasons.

My Dad is 71, loves Seinfeld, Curb(I thought his end had come at the end of the resteraunt/tourettes episode) but he also loves Becker and Raymond, as do I, and British staples like Dad's Army and Only Fools and Horses. Some lowest common denominator shows and some shows where you have to exercise your brain.

No need to badmouth other shows, sometimes a bit of Becker or Frasier is what I want. Curb is an acquired taste, you need a bit of patience as there can be long stretches without any laughs and I think that loses a lot of people. Seinfeld for me is funnier throughout the show, but the pay off in Curb can just be stunningly funny. I don't think I've ever laughed harder as I have at some of Curb's endings. Looking forward to Season 6.

Larry David is a true comic genius, one that comes along only every so often such as Milton Berle, Jack Benny, Jackie Gleason, you get the idea. For those of you who love Seinfeld but don't really like CYE, I say give it a chance. Watch about 10 episodes and I think you'll really begin to love it!

ive watched an episode here and there adn i have to admit it just seemed pretty stupid. It was basically just this guy fucking things up then freaking out and i thought wow how stupid is that. i understand why some of you, ouroboros, anonymous, don't like the show. it requires an iq score that is greater than your shoe size, and along with that an ability to understand (and appreciate) social satire. fu? what planet are you from, anyway? that's what your daddy-o said to your mommy-o before you became a reality. too bad (for us).

I only dislike CYE because the characters are so thoroughly unlikeable. the pointless conflict and constant yelling just ends up frustrating me. i like unpretentious humor, but that does not mean I'm an idiot. all in all, this show is not for people who like to laugh, for people who like to think about what they should be laughing at.
