Kramer plays Dr. Van Nostrand in the episode where George airbrushes Mr Krueger out of his family photo (that was sitting on his work desk). Kramer pretends to be a dermatologist to get a picture of Krueger with his shirt off. Kramer later makes an appearance as Dr. Van Nostrand in the Festivus episode.

He also assumes the Van Nostrand role when trying to rescue Elaine's dubious medical chart.

Van Nostrand: I'm from the clinic.......
Receptionist: What clinic did you say you were from?
Van Nostrand: "Um, that is correct..."

Kramer also plays Professor Peter Van Nostrand when he goes to his mothers ex-boyfriends apartment to reclaim a jacket and Martin Van Nostrand who comes to audition for the role of Kramer on the pilot episode of Jerry.

Let's see now, a shirt fiber on the left shoulder....Ooo, I'll have to keep an eye on that!

- george: no, you are not taking a deli slicer to my boss....

One of the funniest aspects of the Dr. Van Nostand bit in The Slicer is when George is so excited that he tries to literally push Kramer (Van Nostrand) into the room to "examine" Kruger. Kramer stops abruptly and fisrt assumes the correct posture and facial experssion in order to get into character before entering. That half-baked grin is just priceless.

I went to SUNY Oswego around the same time as Jerry. My son feels he pulled the name from a student roster. any thoughts ?

Yes David he did pull the name of David Van Nostrand from the student roster. My brother David Van Nostrand was the Football Captain of the Chief of Massapequa High School, Long Island during the time Jerry was at Massapequa High.

The Van Nostran family had 6 kids who all went to Massapapequa High School - all two years apart. I graduated in 1969 way before Jerry was in school!
