Sure... hitting Jimmy's like robbing a bank.

You don't loiter around in front of the teller holding that big bag of money.

You come in, you hit, and you get out.

Left-hook left, rabbit-punch right... Left-hook left, rabbit-punch right... It's very challenging work.

Can we get back to the subject?

I think the first overdrive-overdrive of funny was the end of The Marine Biologist.

You can't over-drive funny. You see, once something is funny, it's funny. Same thing with death: like once Jimmy dies, he's dead, right? Let's say Jimmy drops dead and I run over him with a steam roller and put his body through a wood chipper: he's not gonna die again, he's already dead. You can't overdie, you can't over-drive funny.

Okay JFK, since I'm bored out of my skull tonight, I'll put my two cents in.

I've never found most of the biggest laugh scenes very funny (nor the ones mentioned at the beginning of this thread). Personally, I find the funniest scenes in the series (and what made the show unique) to be the short, meaningless lines that went by with barely a laugh from the audience. The "About Nothing" stuff. Like George asking Jerry if he has any fish sticks, or Jerry's comparison of a VCR's button to a tooth.

Meanwhile, Jerry's "spirited bout of skanko-Roman wrestling" line gets big laughs? On the commentaries they talk about how difficult it is to shorten the episodes... why didn't they start with that useless, unfunny line?

But, the four of them often sitting in the diner taking turns selfishly whining about their own problems with no response or consideration to the others' problems, is one of the best, most unique things they ever did, in my opinion. The things we've all experienced, but that television considers a waste of time (like waiting for a tape recorder to rewind), or anything not important to the story, is what I enjoy most about the show... and find the funniest; The "Everybody's doing something.... We'll do nothing" parts.

Is the baby gonna cry like that? Is that how the baby cries, with the loud, sustained, squealing cry? 'Cause that could pose a problem- when the baby is crying in that high-pitched, squealing tone that can drive you insane!!

mookie, my girlfriend has all the seinfeld dvds. I asked her what that quote was you used about the "is the baby gonna cry like that" and she brought it over tonight. I thought it was sooo funny. The moil? guy said what you quoted there, he reminds me of my uncle to a "T" we were laughing at him, kept rewinding his part, oh god! funny, Iam glad you used the line.
And I am still waiting for my dvds I ordered.
bye
