New fan here and I'm trying to piece together Elaine's job history throughout the series.
Seasons 1-3 she's working for Lippmann at Pendant Publishing.
Where does she go from here? When does Mr. Pitt come into the show?
Thanks for your help
Greg

Well, there's the "job" she didn't give when he took it out.

Haha-- clever, Gendison. A friend of mine had that exact same thing happen to her. ha -- too bad he wasn't a Seinfeld fan or he'd have known it wouldn't work.

Greg, after Pendant Publishing, she worked for Mr. Pitt (who she meets after interviewing with a different publishing company). When Mr. Pitt fires her she's walking along the street crying and runs into J. Peterman -- of the J. Peterman catalogue -- where she works till the end of the series.
She also went into business briefly with Mr. Pitt later on selling "muffin tops"

...it seems like I'm missing something in there, but maybe not...

Jimmy made that mistake once... had a woman over, led her out into the backyard, then took it out....

Turns out she actually said "Let's go outside, I want to see your deck." Ooops.

It wasn't Mr. Pitt that did the muffin tops,it was Mr. Lippman from Pendant Publishing.

She interviewed for a job to take Jackie O's place but did not have enough grace.

She tried to get a job with Viking Press but that Billy Mumphrey story and Helen, Morty, Leo and Nanna trashing the hotel suite did her in.

Jimmy,

Yeah, Jeff Foxworthy did a skit where he and some buddies are sitting on his deck drinking beer and talking about each other's decks. They discuss who has the biggest deck, the smallest deck, one dude has a deck with sagging problems, one dude has a deck that his girlfriend slipped off of, etc.......... Smile

Why do they call it Ovaltine? The mug is round. The jar is round. They should call it Roundtine!

And back to the thread...

Anybody remember "The Pothole," when Elaine moves into the janitor's closet to get Chinese food.

Jerry, can I borrow your car? I have to haul some garbage to the dump.

Slightly off topic but relating to what Bookman reminded me of. A few times in the show they have done things that would never happen in real life. Obviously, it's a sit com. But what I mean is like when Eliane pretends she lives across the street just so she can get Chinese delivery. But then the guy realises she doesn't really live there, so he gives her back her money and takes the food. Or when Joe kicks Jerry out for buying fruit for Kramer. As if anyone would not take someone's business to that extent. I know i'm over analizing, but those were 2 situations (and there may be others) that I sort of went "as if".

And also off-topic, in a different vein: Why did Elaine evolve, over the course of the show, from an alluring, quick-witted "normal" to a bitter, sexually-frustrated scatterbrain? I realize that, in "The Opposite," Elaine says, "I'm George! I'm George!" But I wish it had been left as a one-time joke, and not a sign-post.

On Gendison's topic...why didn't Elaine just go to the Chinese restaurant and get the order "to go" since her issue was eating alone?

To Bookman: All the characters evolved. George was a complete loser at inception but became more successful later. Kramer's character really developed too.
I'm trying to pinpoint Elaine being "sexually-frustrated" other than when she stops having sex? Seems like she was gettin' plenty?

I disagree w/ O'Brien. Kramer's character didn't evolve. It just took Michael Richards and the "Seinfeld" writers a couple of seasons to find Kramer's character. Once that was done, he stayed the same guy. George was a loser from the time he got fired for peeing in the wrong bathroom. Yes, he landed his Yankees job on a Bizarro episode, but even at that job, he was a loser. And as for Elaine's sexual frustration, I point only her perpetually-irritated attitude in the last 2 seasons. She got laid a lot, but apparently, not enough.
