i noted during endless hours of sienfeld that certain characters seem to be connected to crew members

Alec Berg (the guy who gives Jerry tickets to the hockey game) - Alec Berg (co writer)

Sherry Becker - ("Remember Jerry - dentine!") - Shirley Beck (hair stylist or something)

There were others but i forget. Anyone know if there is a story behind this?

I think they could never afford to pay real actors.

You spelled "Seinfeld" incorrectly. That is unsatisfactory.

Jon Voight (the actor) spelled his name wrong. Jerry sometimes spells his name with a "G" or and "I", but never a "Y", but don't tell that to Marcelino.

Another guy from the backstage,Pete Papanicklaus has had his name immortalized on Seinfeld. In "The Subway",the horse Kramer bets on is named Papa Nick. And on another episode(not sure which),Kramer says he heard something from "Papanicklaus down the hall".Probably Kramer's other source besides Bob Sakamano.

On one of those recent specials on the show I think they said that there was a real guy named Joe Davola that kept begging to have his name used. So they used it but made him a crazy guy, clearly. I'm pretty sure they said he worked at NBC.

I wouldn't exactly call that imortalization, but he was mentioned on the show.
