Good ol' fashioned greed

I am a diehard Seinfeld fan. It is the best comedy ever produced. I watch it daily and laugh as much as I did the very first time I saw the episodes. I will buy all the DVDs. I can't wait.

HOWEVER, I still am disappointed that that Jerry and the ones he works with/for were so greedy as to not give Michael, Jason, and Julia the "back-end participation". Without them (and even Wayne Knight)he wouldn't have had the billion dollar success that he is enjoying now. They MADE the show!!! The almight dollar can sure make for strained or broken relationships. Sad indeed.

But, you know what, they are all actors and that's what we see. The acting side. That's what we like. I don't think I would want to meet them in real life. I would hate to be disappointed because I know they wouldn't be the same as their characters (how could they be?). I was even saddened to hear Julia use the F word in Curb Your Enthusiasm. C'mon, Lainey swearing? They didn't need that for Seinfeld to be a successful show (Well, except the episode about the non-fat ice cream, but they bleeped that).

I am content with them being real people....real TV people! Real life billion dollar Jerry can't mix with TV person Jerry...WORLDS WOULD COLLIDE!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but they still don't get the "back end participation" from the original show. $100K per year is peanuts compared to what JS, LD, and the companies are making. Just not fair. Hopefully they will make it big from the DVDs because there is going to be a HUGE demand.

Jimmy won't say anything racist about Jerry's heritage for you to understand his position in regards to royalties....except for "Wake up!"

Ethnic background has nothing to do with greed. In EVERY ethnic background there are greedy people. Don't single one out, James!

Jimmy agrees with you, however Jimmy's comment is based on a cultural tradition rather than an ethnic bias. Jimmy realizes he could be wrong. Jimmy loves Jerry, he's great!

From the dictionary:

Prejudice (n.)

1. An adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts.
2. Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion.

I accept that Jimmy didn't intend this to be a racist comment, but prejudiced it is nonetheless.

Consider that we don't have all the facts actually we have almost none of the facts surrounding prior agreements that were made, why they were made, the initial creative contributions of the various participants (or lack thereof), the risks that were taken, the other opportunities that had to be pre-empted, etc. etc. I'm not saying that greed wasn't a factor, I'm saying we don't know the whole story. Most of us also don't know how we, personally, would act in that same situation because we've never been there.

I don't believe in the exaggerated kind of political correctness that has become fashionable, but I happen to think it's fundamentally wrong to attribute patterns of behavior universally to large groups bound by common ethnicity, culture, race or religion.

Seinfeld the show has a profit of over a billion dollars not Jerry Seinfeld the person, he like Larry David and the owners get a few hundreds of million.

Though all the actors should get a nice cut in the money for this set, I completely understand Seinfeld and Larry David making more money from it than them. The reason? They created the show. They produced. They wrote it. It's basically their show.

I don't want to take anything away from all the fine actors on the show, but Seinfeld is fairly entitled to the money he makes from the show.

I just wish he'd "step up to the plate" a bit more and support his cast that helped make it great.

they were mearly actors, they didnt create the show, write the show, or produce the show. They made the show what it is but they dont desearve the millions that Jerry and Larry are recieving.
