A number of people have asked me recently about some web sites that are selling complete Seinfeld DVD sets, wondering if it is the official DVD release. I have seen a number of similar offers, and they are homemade DVD sets, not the official DVD release. In the past, I saw a lot of VCD sets offered for sale on eBay and other web sites. Now, with DVD burners becoming more affordable, homemade DVD sets are becoming more prevalent. So, should you buy them? That is up to you - but here are some things to think about: 1) There is no way to know how good the video quality will be. At best it will be VHS quality, at worst it will be the quality of videos downloads - it certainly won't be DVD quality video. 2) No special features. The official DVD will certainly include special features, outakes, etc. - if you are a true Seinfeld fan, you're proabably going to buy the official DVD anyways. 3) You can bet there is no money back guarantee, and some of the prices being asked are significant.
Personally, I am going to wait for the official DVD release. There have been some rumors that they are working on it, but nothing official yet. If you want to be notified by email when the official Seinfeld DVD is released, click here to sign up for the mailing list.

I just discovered this great site. I'm a Seinfeldian----have virtually all '91 on episodes on tape and use them as a pre-sleep ritual at night.
One observation about the ensemble chemistry of this brilliant show: As a 59 yr old man, I've reflected often that the show is one of only four in my lifetime that possessed this ensemble magic: I love Lucy;Life of Reilly;Honeymooners and S. Anyone care to comment? |

"as a pre-sleep ritual at night." LOL
I never watched any tv-serie in my life, but my (former) girlfriend introduced me into Seinfeld. Now, the girly is gone but Seinfeld stayed. And I too use it as a pre-sleep ritual. Whenever the DVD set comes out, I will buy it ... instantly.
Greetz from Amsterdam / The Netherlands.
George: "Where is The Netherlands"?
Jerry: "It's a country next to Belgium"
George: "And what is Holland?"
Jerry: "It's the same country"
George: "Then who are the Dutch??"
Really liked the above sketch

I have all 180 episodes on my computer and use them aswell as a pre-sleep ritual at night. Its possible for me too se the first 10 sec of the episodes and i can then retell the whole plot in the episode. |

that's so funny that you all use it as a pre-sleep ritual! i do it too, i have all 180 on my computer. i know way too much about the show, and can tell most of the episodes just by the opening stand-up act (if there is one on the episode). but that's easy cause most of the time his stand up is the show. i can't wait for the dvd, i just hope they're quick about getting season 2 out, cause there are only 5 episodes to season 1 if you include the pilot. giddy-up

I do the same thing! pop in a tape before bed time and catch a laugh before I fall asleep. I have seen every episode so many times but I can watch them over and over. Cant wait for the DVD's. Has anyone heard any updates on wether Julia Dreyfus and Jason Alexander are budging on their boycott?? |

Hey if any of you have Kazaa, you can download almost every single Seinfeld episode. If anybody would like to get a data cd copy of seinfeld episodes for your computer, drop me an e-mail. ghrichak2@cox.net |

LOL! And I thought I was the only one doing that! I also have all 180 episodes (at the moment at 12 cd-roms) and almost every night I watch 4 or 5 episodes (well, I usually fall asleep before the last one)...
I know what to ask for my birthday next january: the first 3 seasons of Seinfeld on DVD (because 40 MB per ep. is okay, but the quality lacks a little
