HQ Downloading - ATTN: Everyone!

Alright guys, it's pretty clear that getting these HQ downloads are near impossible as things stand right now. Here is my reasoning:
1. 0 people on Filetopia
2. 2 people on IRC (can't get file lists)
3. 1 - 2 people on soulseek (can't get file lists)
4. Torrents are worthless (IMO)
5. no HQ/incomplete seasons on Kazaa
6. Nothing on WinMX (hardly)
7. No reply about getting access to the FTP space

So... obviously us Seinfeld fanatics are spread too thin. Having 1-2 people in each place (i.e., IRC, Filetopia) will not work! We need to unite and decide on a method of sharing that we can all get involved with.

Chances are if you're interested in HQ episodes, you have a high-speed connection. High-speed connections are very powerful and if we put all of our heads together I'm sure there's a way we can get these episodes to everyone and fast.

We need to throw out all of our ideas (remembering that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, i.e. we need to avoid bottlenecks in packet transfers such as what occurs on Kazaa many times).

Just to get the ideas flowing: Is there a way we could do this through email? For example, if someone has a HQ season/HQ episode (this may or may not be reasonable) he or she could send it to everyone who needs it on a list of email addresses.

Around 7 years ago, before file swapping became big, AOL users used to do similar things using chat rooms/email.

I, myself, have all of the Low Quality episodes downloaded. This is obviously not what we're after. If I was provided with some HQ seasons I could start contributing. In other words, I cannot start anything without everyone's help! Share your ideas here! Let's keep this post active until we can agree on something and start sharing for real!

Has anyone considered maybe using AOL Instant messenger to transfer files? I think that the service provides a good file transfer system. If some one wants to try it out, IM me on aol instant messenger. Screen name is MrTommyBizzle

Ok, as far as the email is concerned. There are problems with people not being able to send more than like 3MB at a time... So, I have found a few solutions if you want to go with the email route:

http://www.yousendit.com/
-All you do is upload via web browser. The file is stored on their servers, and an email is sent to the recipient with the link to it. The file stays there for 7 days.

http://www.dropload.com/
-Same as above, except the files are deleted after 48 hours.

Alright I am going to leave my computer on overnight, AIM address is mrtommybizzle. I have Seasons 1 and 2 and most of 3. You must have updated version of AIM or else it wont work. You should be able to select "get file" and you should be able to download any seinfeld episode i have. I have nearly unlimited upload speeds. If there is anyone else out there who wants to try this, it works and i need the rest of season 3 and up so if anyone who has fast upload can send me some HQs i can use my AIM service to host a server for a few days or so. I tried this with one other person and it works so far, so if some other people could try it and give me some feedback that would be great.

I personally think the FTP thing would be awesome. You get higher transfer speeds and have complete control to who and how someone hits your machine

Steve-- I am looking for low quality season 9.. i have 8.5 seasons downloaded in low; I decided to go that route to save space, so I don't have any of the high quality episodes. I can sort of run an ftp server for the low quality episodes, but I'm moving so I couldn't start it for a couple of days. If you could upload season 9 when I get it set up, I could share the low quality set with anyone else who needs it.

Stan- email me and give me some info on how much bandwidth it cost you to run the seinfeld torrent tracker. I have an extra machine on my home network that used to serve counter-strike when I played, but now it just sits there and collects dust. depending on the drain, maybe I could run the tracker when I get my new apartment networked.

If we all use BT, it'll be much better. It's by far the quickest way to trasfer files, if the torrent is active.

The best thing about it is you can't download unless you're uploading, so you're giving something back to the community...

This is the best idea anyone has ever had. The AIM way of trasnferring is awesome. I don't have anything other than what Mr Bob has, just the first 3 seasons. So therefore I have nothing to offer bob in return for downloading, but I can share something if I can get my firewall to work with it. Will reply after I run some tests Smile

Has anyone who is espousing the virtues of AIM transferring ever actually used it for repetitive transfers of large files?? Its slow, error- and failure- prone, and doesn't interact with firewalls very well. I think that provided we can get the tracker back up and running somewhere (i'm willing to do it, but my internet will be down while i move), BT is easily the best way to share with everyone.

There are some of us using Soulseek if you want to give that a try. I'm in there most of the time, and I have well over 100 HQ episodes. Go to a room titled stanthecaddy, and type it in just like that. My nickname in there is Yesca67.

I have tried installing this app like three times. It installas and launches fine but whenever I do a refresh on the room list in attempt to see the seinfeld room it stalls. I am way frustrated with this app, any suggestions or what I am be doing wrong?

Go to Soulseek and right click on the room list. Go to "Create Room". Type in stanthecaddy in all lower case letters, just like you see it typed right here. It will take you to the existing room. Or, if you refresh the room list be patient with it. It will take about 1 min. or so, and then you will be able to find the room on the list.

Please can we get the files shared on Bit Torrent again .. I'm not an AOL user and I don't have AOL messenger, so Bit Torrent is the easiest way for me and many others

They worked just great when the tracker was up, but I only managed to get pilot,S1 and S2 before the tracker went down

I think the AOL Instant Messenger is probably the best option. You don't have to be with AOL to use it, its free, just go there and download it

Torrents are the only way to do it. We just need a server dedicated to the use of Seinfeld only. Once we can get that and spread the word about downloads/uploads it will work great. The only negative in Torrents is if you don't have a lot of people Seeding the process is slow.

Torrents is the best way to download large files. Raza said it best "...you're giving something back to the community..."

Stan - Let us know how we can start helping to move this process along.

Ok people! Bittorrent is the best way to share HQ episodes, there's no doubt about that. Now what would be needed is a free tracker.
One this kind of tracker is @ http://bt.crypto.tk/ go surf there.

It needs free registration but after that you can release your own torrents on their tracker.

I have season 1 HQ eps and I could release them there but I need to know if someone else would be willing to do the same for other seasons?

This is the best place to get the episodes. Someone just needs to take over for Stan as he had asked in a different post and we can get this thing rolling again. I agree with above that now it is very hard if not impossible to get files which is sad because it is hard to share them now as well.
