OK, I know that I have been as guilty as anyone at times, and I really don't mean to preach, but personal exchanges seem to be getting out of hand here on this board. I will admit (and others should admit) to taking some pleasure in dropping an occasional bomb on a really offensive, stupid, or mean-spirited post or poster. Sometimes this is meant to make a point and sometimes just to be funny, however short of that mark it may hit. Generally though, once someone has dropped and detonated the bomb, the fall-out is minimal. I found this to be true up until the last month or so.

Since then I've seen well-placed zingers (and needless zingers) escalate into serious cat (and dog) fights, with one poster or another actually taking every opportunity to "search and destroy" ANY post their antagonist makes.

Maybe we should take the advice of Timmy and, "take one dip and end it". If a post or poster deserves a poke in the chops (and I believe there are many that qualify), let's try to stay specific to the matter at hand and not go chasing them all over the board looking for any reason to berate. It seems that it is beginning to destroy the "atmosphere" of this board and I fear that regulars will jump ship and good new posters will feel reticent to post.

OTOH, Lloyd Braun (who we haven't seen in that guise for awhile) and ScottyCougar Mellencamp Cougar Cougar-Mellencamp and those folks pimping one product or another are fully fair game! HA! Smile

END-O-RANT - If I've heard anyone's feelings - they can go to hell (quoting Elaine).

I agree, and like you said. most of us have been guilty at one point or the other. On the other hand, there are 2 factors that complicate the issue. The first is that it seems people jump on the retaliationna dignore the intitial attack. The secong thing is, Seinfeld is a comedy show, this is a comedy show's site. People should sometimes not be so senstitive if someone makes a sarcastic, ininsulting smart remark. Seinfeld is full of sarcasm and it's a little annoying to keep seeing the person that started the friction turn around and try to play the victim when they realise they attacked the wrong person. I can certainly take a joke and have no problem making fun of myself or letting others do it, so I wish everyone would just stop being so sensitive. Someone asks me which way's Montreal, I don't fly off the handle.

Well, the dominant factor I can see (and which seem to trump both factors you cite, Gendison) is that some people seem to feel that they HAVE to have the last word - knowing that this will not be the last word. Smile

I won't go so far as to name name but there's been a good deal of silly handle flying lately maong certain folks when it would be just as easy to let the ball drop.

That said, I like a witty and sarcastic comment, and with some regularity - but the terms "idiot", "fool", "retard", etc. etc, are neither witty or sarcastic.

Montreal? Who would ask directions to that leftist pinko bastion of Frenchdom?

Perhaps when the handle-flying begins, we can just reply "that's one angry clown"...

As Jerry would say: No hugging, no learning. Or as Elaine would say: Hey, you gonna bust out that drink cart or what?

By the way: Nobody in the history of television said "idiot" more than Elaine.

Yeah, she says it good too (she says it well...whatevah). It rolls right off the tongue.
Jackie, I agree with you, especially about getting the last word, but what looks like both people trying to get the last word to spectators, is just considered "responding to the last post" by the 2 (or more) participants in the "disagreement". I will work on letting things drop, but it's hard when you're subject to personal attacks. I don't care if someone says "you're no Seinfeld expert", because I'm not. I'm just a fan.
Anyway, I've already cut out the swearing, but one thing at a time.

I've always said that Lawyers make the best problem solvers.

Ans: Anybody wanting to escape the black hole known as Toronto. Talk about a boring town.

We could argue all night over Montreal and Toronto. The point is, in today's modern world, it just doesn't seem relevant.

You know, I can't help but feel like this might be directed towards me. I'm so glad you brought it up, Jackie.

I apologized for offending anyone...I don't want any hard feelings either.
I think we should remember why we're on this site in the first place. Because we're fans of a great show.

So...again....no hard feelings. I think I could learn alot from you guys but I'm not a newbie. I just ask that you respect me, and I'll be sure to give back what I get. Very Happy

(And you're right. I'm a sensitive person but I like the way I am.)

Not only is Jackie the ultimate Seinfeld fan, he's the ultimate pundit on human morality.

I mean seriously, shouldn't you be working at the U.N for World peace, instead of preaching to us lowly second-class Seinfeld fans? You really are a multi-talented individual.

LEMOI, I strongly resemble that comment and you might find yourself in litigation if you don't repeat it on some other occasion.

BTW, only very very limited number of Seinfeld fans are "lowly". Folks here know who they are,if they don't know themselves.

Queen. None of what I have written was done with you in mind so, in that sense, maybe you ARE a little sensitive. Smile

What's even more amazing is his formal training is in pediatrics.
