In "The Merv Griffin Show," Joseph Garnish is mentioned in the first scene with Jerry and Celia. Apparently, Jerry had been trying to convince Celia that Joseph Garnish is responsible for either the invention of the garnish or the use of parsley as a garnish (?)--I forget which one.
