Same here. Back in the day, it was proably Jimmy's least favorite... kind of irritating at first. But the more one watches it, the more one can appreciate it. It was the Red Hot Chili Peppers of primetime sitcoms.

The first time I watched it, I thought "This has to be the most rediculous idea for an episode ever."

Now I say "This is such a brilliant idea, where do people think things like this up."

Yeah, also the first few times I saw it, I was too busy trying to get my brain around the concept to notice how funny some of the lines are. Besides how brilliant what they did with the concept is, there is some of the funniest lines and scenes of any episode.
I've always wanted to do what someone here said they did. Record the episode, and then re-record it on video backwards (which would be forward), but I'm too lazy.

A while ago someone posted that. They said they would give it out too. But I wouldn't really trust some random person...

Hey, I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but that episode is based off of the play "Betrayal" which was written by Harold Pinter. (Hence the name "Pinter" in the episode.) The play is written backwards (hence the backwards episode).

It's a great read if you're interested. We actually studied the Seinfeld episode alongside the play in one of my English classes in college.

Interestingly, however, whenever Seinfeld references are discussed here, nobody ever brings this one up.

i think the most important thing about "the betrayal" is that it is the one episode in which julia looks better than i've ever seen her, before or since. could be the schnapps. could be the two and a half seconds in the hotel room where she's bent over on the sofa. (i mean, really, did you ever notice that? you RARELY see julia's wagon... it was always obscured by her loose, flowing dresses in the early episodes, and long jackets in the later ones.) in any case, she's a ten in "the betrayal."

Funny you say that, Gack, because I posted something similar earlier today but got some kind of error message and it didn't post. I was saying that Eliane never really turned me on that much (not that I'd kik her out of bed for....etc...). It didn't help that she dresses like a Quaker and that you could never tell what kind of body she had. Besides, I think she was pregnant often, so she had to wear these hideous Granny dresses.
But in the Betrayal, she is HOT, especially when she's drunk.
