Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought on one episode the camera showed the full name of the restaurant above the door, and it was "Monk's Restaurant." Am I crazy?

Yes, on the window. Don't recall seeing it on the building, though I could be wrong.

In the early episodes, you could see "Monk's Restaurant" backwards on the inside of the windows. In later episodes the place seems to have become nameless.

It's interesting the way the exterior is filmed. The exterior is a real place called "Tom's Restaurant" at 2880 Broadway near 112th St. But in all the various angles in which it's been filmed, the "Tom's" part is always cut off -- in one episode you can just see the "'s" part -- making it seem like a sort of generic non-name restaurant Smile

bash me if im wrong..but the outdoor shot of Monks are in fact Tom's restaurant and the indoor shot are in a studio or something like that right? that would explain the Monks on the windows..

There is actually one episode that shows "m's" just for a second, but I forget which episode it is.

I've seen the "m's" also. I assumed it was the tail end of Tom's. Don't know the episode either.

the sign reading "monks restaurant" on the outside of the building is lit, however, only the word "restaurant is lit. The "monk's" is dark but you can make out what it says.

I don't ever recall seeing the word Monk's on the outside sign. It seems they go out of the way to only show the word RESTAURANT. Sometimes I see the S prior to the word RESTAURANT and I swear I've seen M'S which would be the end of TOM'S.

I did once see "Tom's Restraunt" in full, but that was in one of the earlier episodes.

I don't recall actually seeing the full name, but I just watched The Little Jerry Read the script of The Little Jerry Download the full epiosde video of The Little Jerry Discuss The Little Jerry and in both shots of the restaurant you can see the "M's" displayed on the outside (although both of the shots are exactly the same, but still..)

I just saw the episode with Kieth Hernandaz and when they showed the restaurant you could plainly see "TOM'S RESTAURANT". In the scene inside, the window and door said "Monk's".

Lacey, you are right in that the sign above the restaurant was completely shown but from that particularly skewed camera angle the viewer at home is unable to discern "TOM'S" from "MONK'S".

Of course we all know it is "TOM'S" in real life but for the show it easily passes for "MONK'S".

All the head-on shots of the outside neon sign show "Restaurant" preceded by an "S", an "M'S", or nothing at all.

Of course...

look at the menus on the table. they say "Monk's". A lot easier then reading a reflection in the window backwards or something...
