Hard question: If You had to fix a top-three list out of the five main-characters (including Newman), who would be on that list?

I`d choose
1. Kramer
2. George
3. Jerry.

Jerry's good, but I think he wanted the other people to be the main part of the show, and he be the "normal" guy.

I agree with Cosmo. (Kramer, George, Elaine).
But, like the C man mentions above, Jerry had the smarts to put his ego aside and let others sometimes take the best lines, where a lot of "stars" would insist on keeping those lines for themselves. It would have been easy for Jerry to take some lines himself. So, i think he is the glue that holds it all together.

Yes, Kramer most loved, George most recognized for playing the part to a tee!

Jerry was among a respected line of straight men. Right up there with Jackie Gleason and Andy Griffith for stepping out of the spotlight, when needed, to let others shine!

I agree. I always thought Jerry was the least funny of the main characters even though he was a comedian (referring to his on-air persona, not necessarily in real life). I thought George was funniest with Kramer a close second. Elaine had her moments - "Get out!" with the hard shove to the chest always cracked me up. I liked the comparison to Gleason and Griffith, two of my faves of all-time. They also weren't the funny ones on their shows that often. They let their co-stars, mainly Art Carney and Don Knotts, get the spotlight and become instant classic characters in TV history.

Here's to all the Ed Nortons, Barney Fifes, and George Costanzas of the world! Cheers!

He's a jokemaker. But he, Jerry Seinfeld, is no comedian!

Jerry is definitely the funniest character, mostly because his humor is subtle. He doesn't flip out like the other characters, which makes him so great. I love how he is so apathetic about everything.
