I don't think they ever say.They usually just say his first initial,J.The actors name is John O'Hurley.

That's because you're a stoned, trendy follower and have no sense of humor. Just because Seinfeld was the greatest thing since the light bulb doesn't mean it didn't have it's flaws... and J. Peterman SUCKED! Never ever, ever said or did anything funny...PERIOD! End of story.
