Multiple UserName List

Allow me to step out of character for a bit (possibly for good).

Does anybody have a problem with multiple names appearing in a drop down list when they type their Username in? I remember Gendison mentioning it a long time ago, but at that time I was using Internet Explorer (Mac) and couldn't relate to what he was talking about. But now, with Safari, I have the problem, and It's annoying as Hell.

Everytime I've ever typed "Jimmy" incorrectly (ie, jimmy, Jimmys, jimy, etc.) and sent the post, the names have saved in a dropdown list that gets in the way of typing when I click the cursor in the text field, and I have to click off to the side to get rid of it.

Do any moderators have access to this list? If so, could they please delete all of the multiple variations (except "Jimmy")? Would appreciate it, if it's even possible. Maybe it's a browser issue, but I've looked and found nothing.

Last time I talked with Stan, he had taken everyone off the mod list.

But I think this information is on your computer, not the site. I do have a dropdown list, but it's down to only about 2 names and 2 emails now, since I now just type the "V" and go down one, then type the "C" and go down one. They seem to go away after a time I don't know how to fix them manually though.

Yes, I also believe it's probably in my computer. I have the Auto Fill feature set so that I only have to type a "J" and an "s" (for email), but when I check the Auto Fill preference in Safari (where I entered "Jimmy" to automatically fill in) the others aren't listed there.

It's those hip Silicon Valley hippies and their complicated scripts!

Well, I might have be able to help with Mozilla, but not Safari. I'm not that familar with Linux, which I believe is what uses Safari as a browser.

I just cleared mine in Mozilla, I don't know if this'll be of any help, but it was under Tools>Options>Privacy>Saved Form Information

I'm guessing maybe Safari will be somewhat similar, I just went there, clicked clear, and it cleared eveything. Now just put it in once, and that's it. Dissapointingly there wasn't any way to remove certain names and leave others.

Hopefully Safari is layed out somewhat similar...

Safari is Apple's (Macintosh) new browser. It doesn't have the menu choices you listed, but I have found the area where a similar option should be. I'll email Apple tomorrow when I'm more awake.

Yeah, that's what I'd do, just bother the true source.

Allow me to chime in here as I am a computer professional.. the feature is autocomplete. I don't know how safari or Internet Explorer for a Mac work (I don't use Mac's) but on a PC, when the list appears you can arrow down to the unwanted entries and press the delete key on the keyboard to remove them. Also you can usually turn off autocomplete and then turn it back on to clear the list of remembered entries. Hope this helps.

Why, after clicking on the blush face, did I get the word "blush" with a smiley face? Jimmy's gettin' upset

Because you had the blush in parentheses(sp) which ended with : ) ,except they were connected, so it decided to give that smily instead of a blush and a close to the parentheses(sp).

( Embarassed ) vs. Embarassed )

Yeah, I realized it after posting the question. You have to use spaces after those things when using a right parenthesis.

BTW, It's only been 18 hours since clearing the dropdown list, and I already have another dropdown list with a lowercase "jimmy." Yet I've never posted that name today. Very strange, very strange. Confused
