In the 'Notes About Nothing' we get the Neilsen Rating and Audience Share for each episode. Where are these terms explained in Notes about Nothing? Or are they in such common usage in America that an explanation (of terminology and values)is unnecessary?

They are explained somewhere in season 1, can't remember the episode but I saw it explained in detail.

The "ratings" number reflects the percentage of TV-owning households that have at least one TV tuned-in to the program in question.

The "share" number is the percentage of TVs that are in use at that moment that are tuned-in to the program in question.

The "share" number will always be higher than the "rating" because, at any given moment, a lot of households don't have a TV in use.
