Ok, I know a lot of people think that IRC channels are the best, and would be the best place to meet to trade files. But many people find IRC too difficult to use. So, I propose we should all try out FileTopia.
Filetopia is a little bit like IRC, but it's more like IRC for dummies. It has chat rooms, and the users in the chat rooms can search eachother's files and download from them. You can also set up trade-only, so that it's kind of like ratio on an FTP server. You can have private channels, and make it so people can't even see your files or download them unless they are in your channel. It also uses encryption, so it is safer than IRC.
If you are interested, download filetopia at
www.filetopia.com and if you need help look at this FAQ:
I am setting up a test channel right now. Here is how you access it:
Once you set up filetopia with all your options, go to Chat/Edit Favorite Channels... and then you will come to a screen and on the left side, click "add". Here is what you enter:
auto-join: Yes, if you want it to join this channel when the program starts. No if not.
This is all because the channel is private to anyone who doesn't add it to their favorites with the password. Hope to see you there, as I'm the only one in it right now lol.
