Hello,
Does anyone know if Jerry Seinfeld actually owns a Porsche 550 Spyder?
Everytime I see the picture of it on the wall I wonder if you actually owns one.
That's the James Dean car ... I've heard it's worth over a million dollars.

Yeah, he does own a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder. The same car Dean died in.
He also happens to own a $700,000 Porsche 959. Unfortunately he is not allowed to drive it because there were only 200 made and Porsche refused to give up 4 of them to crash test. So by law, this car doesn't meet crash and emission tests set by whoever governs this stuff. The power of Google. |

I always knew he's the coolest!
Do you know the color ... or are they all the same color? |

The turbo quadramatic transmission offers you the power and prestige to
propel you well above the posted speed limit and into the path of a car turning left...

That may be, but the dirver reported to police that he didn't even see Dean until the crash was unavoidable.
With the Porsche 550 being so low to the ground and being silver in color, it all but blended in with the highway.
I drive that highway a few times each year and at those speeds (70+ mph) oncoming cars and trucks close the gaps before you know it ("like *that*", as Jerry would say).
Would Dean have even seen a turn signal or changed his behavior if he had- he, of course, assuming that the other driver knew he was approaching?
Would the other driver have had a better chance of seeing Dean's car if he (Dean) had his headlights on (which is now mandatory for the 58 mile stretch of Highway 46 between I-5 and the 101 Freeways)?
Ironically, Dean was driving to Salinas where he was entered to race the 550 and a few of the competitors actually passed the crash scene not knowing it was Dean.
SPEED Channel has a 1 hour show on the 550 every few months. Might be worth checking out if you haven't seen it. |

This is supposed to be "the" car..

What do you think?
I've seen ones that aren't silver so that's why I asked what color it was.
This is incredible! It looks "like a million dollars" because it is a million dollars! |

I thought this may be of interest, read at the end about buying a car that Jerry Seinfeld owned.
It sounds like the "Jon Voight" car stuff. |

james deans car was stolen off a flatbed. all that remains is the axle known to be part of the car. check your facts. the above listed 550, a "million dollar car" says right above it so and so's 912, in other words a fake and the guy is not even hiding it |

Who gives a fuck? Anyone who drives fast deserves to die. Radar guns should be able to shoot RPGs.
