I saw this movie like 25 years ago that really left a lasting impression on me. It was a scary B movie called "The Manitou".

As much as I can remember, it was about a lady who has some kind of tumor growing on her back. It turns out that there is some kind of evil Indian spirit/fetus or something growing there. I recall there was some Indian medicine man who knew of this phenomenon.

Anyway, I am contemplating buying this flick on ebay but I am afraid that if I watch it, it wont affect me like it did thus destroying my favorable memory of this scary movie that freaked me out when I was a kid. But on the other hand I may really enjoy it again because I am not that much more mature now than I was at 10.

Anyone remember this flick? Comments?

One down.

Whistling while waiting for (slightly less predictable) reference to going to Mendy's or chancing another restaurant.

I never heard of "The Manitou." But I just looked it up on the imdb, and I'd like to see it, even though I don't particularly like horror movies that don't have Dracula or The Wolf Man or Abbott and Costello, and preferably, all four. I'm impressed by the old-time movie stars and character actors in "The Manitou."

You guys really have me in a movie watching mood now with your threads. I think I still have Weekend At Bernie's II on VHS somewhere...

Is it OK to discuss Berines movies on a "The Manitou" thread? Bad thinks could happen...

"For the record, I, Yev Kassem, take no responsibility for discussing Weekend at Bernies movies on The Manitou thread."

Whew. Rolling Eyes

Well, technically, this is a thread about scary movies from the seventies, isn't it? The Weekend at Bernie's discussion is a faux pax, but we could discuss The Exorcist, The Last House on the Left, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jaws, and The Amityville Horror, just to name a few. I'm not suggesting we talk about any of these. I'm just sayin'.

My bad. It does say scary "movie" and not "movies." So this is the "Manitou" thread. Mystery solved.
