well it says the distributor is columbia. you could always contact their australian office and ask them if it's an official release.

These are legit (distributed by Columbia Tristar). Hard to imagine why they would be released in Oz before the release here in North America. Maybe they're being manufactured down there and the logistics of the smaller market allow them to get the distribution out sooner. But methinks they're just using obsolete date info from the distributor.

It is hard to believe that the DVD would be released in Oz before North America, as America is the centre of the world. I'm surprised you even know where Australia is !

A bit of regional sensitivity, what? Laughing Maybe Australia is so remote that when it's Oct 20 down there it's November in the rest of the world...?

No offense, boys, I'm actually very fond of Australia. I just expected that there would be a coordinated worldwide distribution. But if the DVD's are being manufactured locally for local markets, which is likely, then that might account for the earlier date. And as it's now late afternoon here I'm off to pop open a bottle of Rosemount Estate southeastern Australia chardonnay and throw some shrimp on the barbie Smile

I hope for a worldwide release, otherwise I will just grab the R1 release, this is what region free DVD players were made for Very Happy

Those dates are either made up for the momenent and will be changed to november or the release date will be moved forward around the world. The first ones more likely. And its definalty a legit release, its a proper store. Remember it would be illegal to make money off unoffical copies.

FYI...in australia Friends has been released through the 9th season already!
These are legit releases ... australia had seasons 1 through 6 BEFORE season 1 was even released in the USA. So this is no surprise.

The US is not the centre of the world!!
Unless you're talking about destroying whole nations and millions of people around the world.
Shame on you Johnno!!

FYI: i'm american, and i'm proud of it. What i'm not proud of is some people who thinks with their asses, like our leaders.

The Australian release is nice and all, but anyone heard anything more on a US DVD release? Also, it doesn't really have anything to do with Seinfeld..but has anyone heard anything on a Home Movies DVD release?

When I bought Friends from Amazon UK for season 8, in USA, it probably only release the first 3 seasons. I guess, because too many re-run on TV in US. So, it's better to put if off later than other country. Perhaps, same as Seinfeld...just IMHO.

No surprise to see Seinfeld released in other country earlier than USA.
