Seinfeld on VHS in Australia

The site says:
Question: Are there VHS or DVDs of Seinfeld episodes available for sale?

Answer: No.

This isn't strictly true. Although the DVDs haven't been released, in Australia in about 1995, selected volumes were officially released on VHS. I actually own two of these. They have 3 episodes on each volume (tape) and there were at least 4 volumes released, maybe more. Of course this doesn't help those like me who want the whole lot on DVD, but I just thought I'd mention this anyway.

Aaron, I have never heard this before. What episodes are on these tapes? If you have a photo of the tape covers, I'd love to see them...

The episodes on the tapes are generally the main ones in each season e.g. "The Junior Mint", "The Soup Nazi", that kind of thing. You can see pics of the tapes at, which is an Australian cable tv channel that airs Seinfeld.

Thanks, Bruce. I went to the site, including the Seinfeld page, but I can't find the pics of the tapes. Can you point me to an exact URL? Thanks.

Unfortunately I am now living overseas and my tapes are in storage in Australia so I can't acess them at the moment. However, from memory, I have volume 1 & 2, and the episodes are (in no particular order):
The Parking Space
The Junior Mint
The Contest
The Bubble Boy
The Airport
one other

There were at least two other volumes available at the time with other well known episodes on them.

This was in roughly in 1995-6, give or take a year, and I've got no idea how many they made or if they are still available. They were officially released (as far as I know) and available from normal retailers like any other normal VHS release.

Interesting to hear that they were released no where else except here in Australia... the "anus of the world" indeed (thanks Jerry).

I got 2 of them when they came out. Volume 1 has The Contest, The Bubble Boy, and The Airport, and Volume 3 has The Masseuse, The Pez Dispenser, and The Virgin.

Each video has a different montage at the start for each main character, similar in style to the clip special.

On the back of the clamshell-style cases are your typical plot synopsises (or should that be "synopsi"?) for each episode.

I'd take a picture of them if I had my cam on me at the moment. I will do this if there is interest.
