Hey all, I am a pretty good Seinfeld fan, I watch it whenever it's on, but I am not gonna buy the DVD. Anyways, what is the religion of all the characters? My friend thinks they are all Jewish, and I know Jerry is, but I'm not sure about the others. Kramer is not circumsised and that's a Jewish tradition to my knowledge, so what's the deal? Thanks.

(From the episode where Frank helps Kramer cook for the Jewish Singles' Night party)

Elaine: "I'm not Jewish".
Kramer says that Frank is letting him do the event at his Knights of Columbus hall (Catholic).

I was wondering about this myself. I think the blog is in the wrong spot, since it's for characters, but I'd still like to see if I got this right. I've suspected that Jerry and George are both Jewish, but perhaps not very religious (none of the characters seem to be) As for Kramer, I'm not sure. I suspected he was Jewish at times, but I think he probably has his own religious views seperate from any church. As for Elaine, I've suspected she's Catholic.

when the man who converts to judaism for the jokes and tells jerry and george that he is a jew george says welcome to the brotherhood or fold or something like that. I think elaine is probably church of scotland thats where her family are from originally, anyway i think its safe to say she's a gentile. kramer who knows, i think he is jewish but what throws you is the fact that the actors are all so obviously jewish in real life.

This is an old discussion, but one point of correction. George DOES not say anything of the kind to Whatley. JERRY says "welcome aboard".

Elaine-Not religous, she doesn't believe in anything
Jerry-Jewish
George-Latvian Orthodox

I always thought Elaine was Catholic. She visited the father who mistook her for Mary.

Kramer is a tough one, but he's not circumcized, so I'm guessing he isn't Jewish.

Jerry is obviously Jewish.

George has a very Jewish name, obviously Jewish parents, and met Jerry as a child and stayed friends their whole life. My best guess is he's a Jew, too.
