Greetings, friends!

I work for the popular video game developer Electronic Arts (EA) located in Southern California. I am currently working in the EA Sports division, but I recently found out that EA purchased rights to a few different entertainment properties, the largest being Seinfeld!

As I already mentioned, I work in the sports division so I wouldn't be working on this game, but since the rights to the show was just cleared, I would expect the game to be released in the Summer of 2008.

Any thoughts?

Well as I said, I probably won't be working on it, though I'll gladly pass along any suggestions.

If you have any other suggestions, just reply here. You could also send an email to bhuey@ea.com if you'd rather keep your suggestions private.

I know you guys don't like copy-pasted scripts, but I couldn't resist. I can just picture the pitch:

EAGames exec:What's the premise?

JERRY: ..Well, as I was saying, I would play myself, and, as a comedian, living in New York, I have a friend, a neighbor, and an ex-girlfriend, which is all true.

GEORGE: Yeah, but nothing happens in the game. You see, it's just like life. You know, you eat, you go shopping, you read.. You eat, you read, You go shopping.

EAGames exec: You read? You read in the game?

JERRY: Well, I don't know about the reading.. We didn't discuss the reading.

EAGames exec: All right, tell me, tell me about the stories. What kind of stories?

GEORGE: Oh, no. No stories.

EAGames exec: No stories? So, what is it?

GEORGE: What'd you do today?

EAGames exec: I got up and came to work.

GEORGE: There's a game. That's a game.

EAGames exec: (Confused) How is that a game?

JERRY: Well, uh, maybe something happens on the way to work.

GEORGE: No, no, no. Nothing happens.

JERRY: Well, something happens.

EAGames exec: Well, why am I playing it?

GEORGE: Because it's in your Playstation.

EAGames: Not yet.

Ok, while development of the game has yet to begin (obviously--the rights were aquired only days ago!), the leader of the team responsible for the games says that it'll be made in the style of Grand Theft Auto, only without the... you know... mass violence.

Do you guys have any extra suggestions?

It'd be really cool if they would make Jerry's standup bits part of the game...

I don't see any way to get a video game out of Seinfeld. Sorry, but this is destined for failure.

I can't believe they could land a man on the moon and not be able to develop a Seinfeld video game that idiots like us would buy.

I could see a Seinfeld game that was similar to the Sims but if they're shooting for more of a GTA style game you could make plenty of missions straight out of the show. Of course you'd have to make all four main characters playable with the abilty to unlock others, people love the unlockables. One mission could include Elaine trying to drive Jerry from point A to point B before he gets sick while another could include timely button presses to improve her dancing. Instead of hidden packages you could have hidden microphones throughout the world which would level up Jerry's stand up routine and maybe even have his jokes as weapons somehow. You know when I first read this I thought it was a bad idea but I could see it happening if you do it right. You can't just appeal to the Seinfeld fans with an in joke here and there, it has to be fun even after the curiosity wears off.

I really agree with nina van peebles... like at first I was like um..I will definetly sucker into buying even though I thought it was going to suck but when he said GTA style I was thinking woahh cool so it's not just trivia..and althoguh I do agree that it shoudl appeal (meaning non-Seinfeld obsessers too) it should still require some knowledge of the characters and now that I think about it this thing has potential and it could either suck or if they work really hard at it it could be really good. But like it can't just be the kind of thing that sucks but the only reason people buy it is cause of the name. Because then it's too bad, wasted potential. but yeah anyways I am looking forward to that time (.when the game is released)

When i first read this last night i thought it was a terrible idea that probably wouldnt work. But i agree with Nina, i just kept thinking about it and realized there are some fun ways they could turn seinfeld into a video game. If they made it into a GTA style game they could have missions like, Kramer driving the mail truck chasing the guy with Jerry's car, the guys trying to find the car in the parking garage, kramer picking people up in that horse carriage thing, george could borrow jerry's car and drive it around and return it in mint condition, you'd lose points the more you wrecked it, and then you could have george competing with other cars for parking spaces. You could also have bonus levels, like George trying to get his frogger arcade across the highway, and there could also be a hidden level where a young Jerry would run to the library to return some books in time, and there'd be obstacles all over the place. And finally you'd have some time limit missions like Elaine trying to get his boyfriend to the airport in time, or Jerry trying to get a marble rye for george.. There could be a bunch of little old ladies with marble ryes and he'd just run around after them ...etc. there's a million cool things they could do with it.

For a Simpsons game Hit and Run was good but it definately left something to be desired. This would be a good foundation for a Seinfeld game but a huge part of what made Hit and Run good was exploring a fictional Springfield. Seinfeld would take place in the "real" world and anyone who plays games has already played a game in NYC. This is where the developers have to get creative and make it Jerry's New York, Kramer's anytown USA, George's Yankee Stadium and perhaps even Morty's Del Boca Vista. I've played a lot of games but not one of them has had a retirement village as the back drop. Every episode I watch now I sit there thinking how they could turn this into a video game and the possibilties are endless.

The game should be kinda like Fable. And you should live your live and you'll start to change in to one of the charecters. Like if you disided to cheat at something you'll slowly become george. Get it?
