I posted elsewhere on the board but figured I'd get a better response here... Does anyone know the Seinfeld term 'overlappers'? It was the morning trivia question on the radio today, and no one in my office that watches the show has any clue what it means. I'm sure someone out there does...

Jimmy thinks he can sum up the term "overlappers" for you with one word........NOTHING.

Hey Jimmy--Bookman was once an overlapper. You know, you're going along, you think everything's all right, and all of a sudden you get the tap. It's like pffffft, all right, that's enough, you're through.

needshelp, nothing is part and parcel of what you'll often get to a question such as yours. But then, you get what you pay for! Smile

The only overlap I ever recall was the gas gauge needle over lapping the "E" line when Kramer was test driving the car.

Maybe whoevah was thinking of the "sentence finisher" who kept "overlapping" Jerry to incorrectly finish his thoughts!

don't worry, you came to the right place, Needs.

don't let these un-helpful regulars get to you. they're just having fun.

the episode you're referring to happens to be one of my personal favorites called 'the uncle'. highlights include a guest appearance by ed eisner as elaine's father's brother, Ludwig Benice who plays an ex army colonel who has trouble with elaine's friends laxidazical attitude toward life ("this Kramer ... he doesn't have a job?") hahaha great dead pan. Jerry tries to difuse the situation by inviting Alton and Ludwig to a comedy club, which blows up in his face when a waitress spills a bloody mary on Ludwig and sends him into a shell shock tantrum that has the whole club running in fear... classic stuff!

the answer to your overlappers question lies in the sub plot to this story, where Jerry's dad tries to resurect another of his old clothing inventions, the Overlapper, which is a style of hip-waders he invented by accidentally putting a trenchcoat on upside down on his legs! hence, the 'overlapper' was born. hilarity ensues... yada yada yada. needless to say, Rudy's used clothing store wanted nothing to do with Morty or Kramer, and the whole deal went amuck.

hope this helps settle your office dispute

stay outta the deep end

That irreverence, that wit -- I'd recognize it anywhere. Ramon has stolen a Ziggy and passed it off as his own.

You know, Ramon, you really need some help. A regular psychiatrist couldn't even help you. You need to go to like Vienna or something. You know what I mean? You need to get involved at the University level. Like where Freud studied and have all those people looking at you and checking up on you. That's the kind of help you need. Not the once a week for eighty bucks. No. You need a team. A team of psychiatrists working round the clock thinking about you, having conferences, observing you, like the way they did with the Elephant Man. That's what I'm talking about because that's the only way you're going to get better.

Jerry, do you appreciate this? Do you see the irony of this? Do you see what is going on here?
