So, the whole country is laughing and congratulating Stephen Colbert on his Bush bashing performance. Okay, whatever...
Now next time, can we get someone with a bomb, instead of worthless comedians who think this imbecile's actions and stupidity are something to laugh at? Sorry, but anyone who laughed is just as heartless and shameful as a Republican in my book.
What the f**k is the matter with this country? Maybe when everyone has lost their jobs and are living on the streets, and has had one of their children blown up, they won't think it's so funny anymore. Until then, let's just laugh and let it continue!

He didn't really get much laughs. He left them all stoned-faced, which means it worked. He embarrassed the media, too. Which is why they didn't really pick up the story, they were embarassed. I think he made some great points and it's about as biting as anyone can get in front of the Prez and all those generals. You can't expect someone to just get up there and call him the scumbag that he is. It would work in his favor. I love the silence that befell that room during his act. |

I didn't really mean to criticize him as much as I meant to criticize the average, complacent American who doesn't realize that if they too were suffering, all that stuff wouldn't be so funny. It would create more press, and be far more effective if these asskissing celebrities (most of whom are against Bush) would just refuse the invitation to even be in same room with him; The Red Wings, The Pistons, comedians, etc...
But hey, they've got it made, what do they give a shit, right? F**k em all! |

Yeah, the sad thing is, the average American IS suffering, but they either don't realise it or don't care. |

I did like the line about Washington, D.C. being the "Chocolate city with the marshmallow center." There were also a few other harmless jokes that didn't have anything to do with Bush...
But he still shook asshole's hand!

More Colbert from the WH Correspondents' Dinner:
"Wow, wow, what an honor. The White House Correspondents' Dinner. To just sit here, at the same table with my hero, George W. Bush, to be this close to the man. I feel like I'm dreaming. Somebody pinch me. You know what, I'm a pretty sound sleeper, that may not be enough. Somebody shoot me in the face...
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press corps, Mr. President and first lady, my name is Stephen Colbert and it's my privilege tonight to celebrate our president. He's not so different, he and I. We get it. We're not brainiacs on the nerd patrol. We're not members of the 'fact-inista.' We go straight from the gut, right sir? That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut.
"Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up. I know some of you are going to say 'I did look it up, and that's not true.' That's because you looked it up in a book. Next time look it up in your gut. I did. My gut tells me that's how our nervous system works..."
