I'm sure this has been touched on a thousand times but I'm gonna do it again!
What do people think of the finale? I know the general consensus is negative but I don't really understand why.
As far as I'm concerned having the characters thrown in the slammer for being uncaring SOBs is perfectly in tune with the ethos of the show.
Seinfeld was never a 'normal' show, so it didn't warrant a normal ending.
For example, if the finale had been written by the writers of Friends: Jerry and Elaine would've got married, Kramer would have hit on a million dollar idea and George would've found the perfect job/woman.
An ending like this would be typically sitcom but far too easy/cheesy for Seinfeld, and an insult to the fans.
Any thoughts?
