The Merv Griffin Finale

While we all loved the show, many had mixed emotions about the final episode. Without setting off a firestorm of controversy from the extreme die-hards I'll get straight to the point. If you could have written the final episode what would it entail?

To this day I still believe the Merv Griffin episode should have been the last one. If they had tweaked the ending it would have been a perfect end. Imagine the Merv Griffin set's lightbulbs shorting out at night becuase of the hawks rampage causing Kramer's wood paneled apartment to catch on fire. Scenes jumping from Newman's lair in flames having to go through another fire due to his insane friend Kramer. Jerry with George sleeping over is stuck in his blazing apartment with George doing another cowardly exit flying out of the apartment and pushing past everyone to get out. Some obscure character should die in the fire, like Lomez, or even better, the man with a lot of potatoes in his apartment. Man-Hands would save a passed out Jerry with the camera only showing those unforgettable hands dragging him to safety. Kramer would have to go back in and return munching on a bushel of burnt and semi cooked potatoes. Everyone would be outside watching the entire apartment burn down and other characters like Bubble Boy and Jackie the Attorney would see it on television. Of course George would be put on live television as a coward with footage of him fleeing. Other hilarious events could happen ultimately ending in the coffee shop with Jerry and the gang and others discussing the fire and trying to find a new place for him to stay as well as Kramer. A building over by the Jiffy Park, refusing to move near "lopper" territory (he was never caught), Bob Sakamano's old place, room with Putty, Jerry's parents insisting he move in with them, refusing to move in with Man-Hands, California. Jerry would have to get up and leave Manya style completely irritated and covered in dirt and smoke, "that's it I've had enough" with Kramer following with more ridiculous suggestions and Elaine leaving arguing with Putty for flirting with Man-Hands and George leaving only to be confronted by t.v. cameras wanting to talk to a coward. And a elderly man from the building in a scooter hitting him again. Now that would be a classic ending.

look, give the guy some credit, he's got some funny ideas. I mean funny is funny. I mean we're not stupid right? George being confronted by a bunch of people for his cowardice seems pretty funny. and Man hands saving jerry.

But I personally would have liked to see Elaine move to paris because of business. When Jerry rushes to the airport to professes his love for her, she says no and gets on the plane. Jerry, completely heartbroken, gets back to the apartment and checks his messages. Elaine left a message, where she in the process changes her mind and furiously asks the flight attendant if she could get off the plane. Just as Jerry asks : "Did she get off the plane?!?", Elaine says in the message "alright, fine, i'll just go to paris." and hangs up.

Jeffrey...that was a pretty risky little thing you did there...

I was wondering why all those people would be at Jerry's burning apt? And that potato guy lives in Elaine's building.

Thats actually a fairly good idea, better than the finally they ended with on the series. There's just something about the real finale that's a little off. Jerry and George talking about cell phone stand offs and open door urination... what a disappointmen.

yes, let's have the two main love interests finally get together. what a great idea.

meanwhile, six years from now, people will be on some "Friends" blog saying "i think they shouldn't have gotten together at the end, it would have been better if it had ended all cynical and against the grain. you know. like seinfeld did."

for the hundredth time, having jerry and elaine get married or get together or get engaged or get the measels or whatever... would have been the the show's biggest, most ultimate shot in the foot.

You're wasting your breath Gack. These people are too stupid, and STILL don't understand what very thing attracted them to such a unique show in the first place.

All right Jimmy let's hear an idea out of you. Sure it can be in third person the whole way through too. First off though, which one were you saying sucked, the fire episode or the marriage one? Secondly who are 'these people'?

I make a motion that we have no more these meetings that have been initiated by any Bob Sakamano.

Knew I should'nt have posted that story, it was bound to attract "the experts". My apologies, I bow and beg for forgiveness oh great ones of knowledge. I'd like to see Jimmy post a alternate end, even if it all is in third person. Funny how no one caught the blasphemous nic "moo point" while I got crucified for LoadBearingWall.

i can't speak for jimmy, but i get the idea that he wouldn't want to post an alternate ending.

that's sort of the point, yeah? the finale was good just the way it was. for some reason people can't leave it be.
