Editorial Review:

Product Description:
In March 1987, a young author from Oklahoma published her first novel, Arrows of the Queen. This modest book about a magical land called Vademar was the beginning of a fantasy masterpiece that would span decades and include more than two dozen titles. Now sixteen of today's hottest fantasy authors-including Tanya Huff, Mickey Zucker Reichert, Fiona Patton, and Judith Tarr-visit the world of Valdemar, adding their own special touches.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Changing the World

Very enjoyable anthology. Looking forward to additional books in the future. Similar to the "Sword and Sorceress" series.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - good book
well written as are all of these books, just couldn't put it down until I finished it.moved at a good pace through all the different stories, each one I wished longer but great over all.please give it a read.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A lot of good, a little mediocrity
If you enjoyed Moving Targets, you'll enjoy this collection. You get to reconnect with many of the characters covered in the previous collection - as well as a few new faces - and the stories overall are well-crafted and engaging. There are two tales that just don't fit, though. One doesn't relate to Valdemar or Velgarth in any way, another ties the real world to the world of Valdemar too closely - suspension of disbelief is lost with this heavy-handed treatment.
Those two stories, though, aren't enough to stop me from recommending this book overall. I thoroughly enjoyed the collection and, as usual, can't wait to read more about Valdemar/Velgarth ASAP!

A fun read. Captures the flavor of the Valdemar series beautifully. Since this book consists of short stories by other authors besides just Mercedes Lackey, it enabled me to find new authors to sample.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Back to quality
A good book is one that I will read over again -- for the most part, Mercedes Lackey is back in good form (as author & editor). I particularly liked the stories that filled in more of Valdemar's history.
