Description:
Ever wonder what goes on in a pumpkin patch during the fall season? Pumpkin Season is a Read-A-Long DVD Picture Book. This wonderful story is about a cute little pumpkin named Reggie. He can't wait to go to the jack-o-lantern auditions and play pumpkin games at the seasonal patch parties. However, in pumpkin society you either qualify to become a jack-o-lantern, or you are kicked out of the patch and made into pie by the Bakerman.

The Bakerman never makes pies out of the official jack-o-lanterns, but he has a big pie order to fill and now all pumpkins are up for grabs, especially Reggie. Reggie's courage unites the pie pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns and they all join together with the jack-o-lantern ghosts of Halloweens past to defeat the Bakerman. The jack-o-lanterns finally realize that big or small scary or not, they are all the same. And from now on all pumpkins will be Holiday jack-o-lanterns, thanks to Reggie.

This wonderful story is for all ages. Special features include, animated intro, on-screen story text so children can read along, your choice of male or female narrator (kids pick), a full screen gallery with music track. Images are highly detailed and colorful 3D computer generated illustrations. Length is approximately 30 minutes, language is English.

It's October 31 and Barney and the kids are decorating for a Halloween party at school. This means a trip to a local farm for the usual pumpkins, the Indian corn, and a good excuse for some seasonal songs ('You can call it fall, if that's what you please / But I say I like autumn.') There are 14 songs, including at least one repeat from an earlier tape, and the usual Barney-ized versions of traditional tunes--the most bizarre being 'S-M-I-L-E' to the music of 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic.' The prehistoric galoot and his 'Halloween team' make some construction-paper spiders and paper-bag owls that are easy to duplicate at home and some foot-painting that would do a number on your carpets. The party is the big payoff, complete with prizeless games, a candy-filled piñata, and Barney boogeying down. The secondary story has BJ and Baby Bop on a dismal trick-or-treat outing, which includes safety advice but ultimately seems to suggest that this most-typical Halloween activity isn't a good idea. On the costume front, cowboys, ballerinas, and scarecrows are the order of the night, as this festive, but decidedly unspooky, 50-minute tape sidesteps the whole ghost/witch/goblin theme. --Kimberly Heinrichs
