OK...please help me...i'm sure i'll get over it, but it's eating away at me, and i'm really bothered over this major inconsistancy. This has been mentioned before, but i have to repeat it...ok, here goes:
In "The Deal", ( the ep where Jerry and Elaine decide to try retaining their friendship while still haveing sex), at the end of the episode, there is no doubt about the fact that they ARE A COUPLE. I mean, it's not implied, it's very obvious. Then, the next episode is "The Bridal Shower" and they're back to being friends like nothing happened. How could they have overlooked this, it's just not right. I'm a HUUUUGE fan of the show,, but i'm having trouble getting past that one. What happened??? Please help me understand. Thanx for listening.

lovin' every minute of it

Jerry is frequently seen with girlfriends through-out the series, but with not all of them do they show the break-up. Jerry is known for "having a new girlfriend every week" and probably broke if off with Elaine like the others. It may seem improper because they're such good friends, but that doesn't exclude it from being a possibility.

I think beauty of Seinfield is that almost every episode can be viewed by itself and all of the characters are essentially the same and unchanged. A relationship between any of them for more than 1 episode would totally mess it up
