I don't intend to be morbid here, and I sincerely hope not to offend anyone, or be disrespectful to those who knew, or were, victims of 9-11... but I have been completely baffled about something for the past five years, and have been reluctant to bring it up to others, especially on a world wide web site. But it has been five years, so here it goes...
What happened to all the rubble from the buildings?
Are the photos and film coverage simply difficult for me to interpret? I know much of the building's construction burned and/or vaporized into ashes, and I know much went into the ground... and the incredible weight of the material can cause a lot of compression, not to mention thousands of hollow offices. But I can't help wondering why there wasn't a massively, gigantic mountain of concrete clearly visible from far away. Or was there, and I just haven't been able to identify anything to give the destruction any scale?
It's like two refridgerators falling into a pile no bigger than a microwave oven.
I guess it all boils down to the angles at which the photos and footage, I've seen, were captured because although it's clear to me that the mess left behind was massive, the size of the mess does not even come close to the monsterous size of those buildings, that I can perceive. Unless, like I stated before, there are no vehicles, people, or recognizable objects to give the destruction any scale. What am I missing? Did one simply have to be there to realize the true size of the devastation. That must be it.
Does anyone else not see what I don't see? I guess I don't see things as they are... wait... What do I say when I don't see things ...?

I remember seeing news footage from months after the day and it looked like a lot of debris, but we tend to view "size" in comparison to what's around it (a mini-poodle looks tiny next to an elephant but HUGE next to an ant) so depending on the size of the buildings around it, (if they are very large) it may look like less than it was. I have never been to ground zero but it looks like the hole is several stories deep...plus like you mentioned, alot of stuff probably just evaporated. I don't think their was much left of the plane in Penn for that same reason.
I remember news footage of huge dumptrucks full of debris being driven out of the sight. I wonder if they were able to recycle any of that...or if they would even want to...

They stood in line to dump the debris on one of NYC's Waste disposal islands. Pretty sure
we love the need to recycle this.

Mookie may tell jokes here at StanTheCaddy, but there's no joking about the WTC crisis.
From a recent program on A&E:
290 tons of debris were trucked from the WTC site to a barge 1/2 mile away where it travelled to a landfill on Staten Island where it was then sorted by hand.
Workers spent nine months, and 1.5 million hours, to clear the WTC site.
1.8 million tons of debis were carted away in 107,000 truckloads.
20,000 body parts were found.
1,100 of 2,823 victims were identified. |

the debri was shipped overseas by mayor Guilianni "SP" therefore a crime scene has been totally erased. Search on the internet "loose change 2nd edition" and start watching the movie. It mentions the rubble that was secretly moved out of the country. Yes I believe in the conspiracy, sorry. |

If a crime scene's been totally erased, what happened to all that yellow tape? |
