i was wondering how come these 3 versions are so different.
The France version seems to be so expensive and ugly (100 dollars + ! ) and don't come in a 3seasons box set.
the Uk version is cheaper but doesnt have the whole box set stuff (salt and pepper, cards, script ...)

so i guess the only valuable version is the american one ???
i guess, us poor europeans, will have to order it from there ... Sad

thx

Yep it's a shame that the region 2 package available in europe (including french audio...) will not have any gifts included like the usa package!

We should boycott it! With that kind of stupid marketing, pirating the usa version should be the answer. I hate to say that!

after looking at the region 2 (uk) version of the 3 disc set on www.play.com and then looking at the region 1 (usa) version on www.playusa.com it seems there is a difference in the running time.

REGION 1 = 15hours 42mins
REGION 2 = 14hours 39mins

this doesn't look good for us here in the uk with region 2 because it appears the orignial episodes with 1-2 minutes extra from the original NBC network version will not be included.

the only option is to wait an extra month for the region 1 set to come out with everything on it. does anyone have any further info on if this is correct.

thanks

dominic

no its not that the uk misses on the extra 1-2 minutes. Its just that R1 (NTSC) runs faster than R2 (PAL). or something like that. The R2 will have the same stuff on it as the R1.

I see what Bob is saying about NTSC vs PAL
however as far as I know Seinfeld was not shot on film but on video therefore there should be no difference between the video lenght of the Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs

I don't really know what to think about this huge difference in lenght...does anyone know for sure if Seinfeld was shot on video?

Thanks!

Now that the DVDs are out in the UK, can someone tell what is with the extra 1-2 minutes. Are they included in the Region 2 version or not?

Thanks.

Yes, the UK region 2 dvd's are the original 1-2 minutes longer NBC network versions.

What about subtitles ... Any Dutch in R2?

On the Dutch R2 release, pretty much all the episodes are 22 minutes. Is this including the extra footage?

The UK R2 version that I bought, has also German and French audio and subtitles. No Dutch..

PAL runs at 25 frames per second, NTSC runs at 24 frames per second (nothing to do with shooting on film).

If you watch a PAL DVD on one TV and an NTSC DVD on another, the PAL will finish first.

sorry dragnet but you're wrong

pal is 25fps and ntsc is 29.97fps
pal also has a higher vertical resolution than ntsc

therefore ntsc will finish first - thats where the effect of 'pal speedup' occurs - the film will be speeded up for the pal version - this often makes the pitch of the sound slightly higher, and quite annoying - i'll be buying the region 1 for that reason.
