"S'alright" sounds more like Baba Looey or maybe Senor Wences. Anyway, on the off-chance that even some of our regulars never heard of Bill Dana.......

Dana was, literally, a one-bit comic in the fifties and early sixties. His one bit was the persona of a dumb Latino (or as all people from Central and South America were called in those days: Mexican) named Jose Jimenez. Dana appeared many times as Jose Jiminzez on The Ed Sullivan Show, in various sitcoms (one-time appearances), and the original Hollywood Squares. When making fun of Mexicans became passe, Dana was out of a job.

Yes, S'Alright is Wences, my reference was rather obtuse. But, if someone doesn't know Dana (Jimenez), they probably don't know Wences, either. Dating myself, I remember Dana on Steven Allen's old show...

Speaking of the old "dumb Mexican" routines, how about Mel Blanc? Si, Sy, Sue. Well, maybe not so dumb....
