Seinfeld Script Search:

Why is The Contest so mainstream??

What I'm trying to say is, why when you read articles they talk about like this is one of the best episode of Seinfeld?

Plus this:

NOTE: Thanks to this episode, the series won the Emmy for best Comedy, Writing and Supporting Actor (Michael Richards). The episode was based in a real life experience of writer Larry David.
Tom Cherones won the Director's Guild of America Award for this episode. This episode was based on a real contest that Larry David participated in.
TV Guide named this episode, specifically the moment where Kramer says he's out, as the third funniest moment in TV history.

I mean, it was funny, but not the best episode. And here on this forum, no one really talk like it's the best episode.

So why is the non-Seinfeld-maniacs/Media thinks it's the best episode??

I've wondered the same thing..many much better episodes abound.
And the Kramer moment as the third most funniest in TV history? I can easily count 20 more moments from Seinfeld itself that are funnier.

Like Stuart Scott might say, 'Playaa pleeze!'

I don't know about that...the series is so great that just because it doesn't get voted as best episode, that just means that there are so many incredible episodes that it's hard for one to stand head and shoulders above all the others, but as far as the history of sitcoms is concerned it's definitely one of the top ten. But that episode is one of the all-time classics for sure.

It is a great episode. To me it's not one of the top of all time, but then again there were so many great episodes (esp. in season 5, IMO) the standards are pretty high. I've seen some on here who do feel The Contest is the top of all time. Different strokes for different folks (literally, given the subject of this episode). Wink
