Why Pre-order?

I just thought I would bring a topic up for debate- Why pre-order? Here is my reasoning for NOT pre-ordering and just going to any store on the release date.

1. You will have it on the 23rd. You can bet there will be plenty of stock at any store so there should be no worries that they don't have it when you get there.
2. The price is the same or cheaper at stores (according to prices on internet).
3. Some stores offer bonus materials for buying at their store( Best Buy).
4. You can look before you decide what you want. The example here is whether or not to buy the volumes separately or the gift set. You can actually see what you are getting before you buy it.

If you do pre-order.

1. Most sites do not guarentee that you will have it the 23rd. I realize that it might happen, but again no guarentee. If you want it guarenteed you have to pay big next day shipping charges.
2. There is no price savings. The price is the same if not more expensive. The only thing some offer is Free shipping. Big deal..what good is free shipping if you pay the same price for it and you get it a few days later than you want it.
3. I have not seen any bonus materials for pre-ordering it somewhere.
4. You do not get to see it before you buy it.

The only advantage I see from pre-ordering is that if you are fat, lazy, and never go anywhere- you can have delivered to your door.

Seriously- Does anyone have any real advantages for pre-ordering anything (not just Seinfeld)?

Hey little jerry -- what are the bonus materials that Best Buy is giving out? (that would make me want to buy the DVDs there)

I was going to order online and then pick up in the store through Best Buy because if you do that with the Gift set you get a $25 online gift card...

Jimmy agrees with not pre-ordering. Makes no sense.

Doesn't this site offer a link to a pre-order deal that includes a Monk's salt and pepper shaker, an original script and a set of playing cards? That is something, right?

0'brien,

all that stuff comes in the gift set- which you get whether you pre-order it or buy it in the store- its not extra because you pre-order

Amazon is by far the cheapest I have seen so far, plus free shipping, so that's where I plan on purchasing, most-likely will be pre-ordered tonight. But if someone knows of it cheaper, please let me know.

vl-
do you know that your "free super saver" shipping will take an additional 3-5 days. Just thought you would like to know. Go to target and buy it for the same price on the 23rd.

Here in hicksville our Wal-mart hardley has anything the day it comes out. It will sometimes take until the next Tuesday for it to be on the shelf. I paid more so it will be two day shipping, starting Nov 22nd. I should have it on Nov 24th. That is why I pre-orderd from Amazon, I don't trust our Wal-mart.

The time doesn't matter that much, but it's the same price at Target?? If so, then I'll be there that day.

Target and Amazon have the lowest price of $77.97. However if you pre-order at bestbuy before 11/20 for $79.99 plus shipping, then you get a $25 online coupon which is a good advantage if you ask me, being near the holidays and all.
